Not sure the person who said "struggling to be average" has the right pub! This is a traditional welsh country pub not a city wine bar. It has always been spotlessly clean whenever I have visited. The pub is renowned for it's great food and generous portions. Sunday lunch is to die for and very reasonably priced. Locals are very... More

Just returned home from a lovely weekend in Llangynog to celebrate a friend's 60th birthday. My bedroom (room 2) was very clean and the double bed (just me in it) was so comfy. The dinner last night was absolutely delicious, vegetable lasagne. jacket potato and salad. Breakfast was equally as good. Couldn't fault. Staff very friendly and helpful. A bit... More

Visited twice during a short break & had evening meals and a drink. Despite a trendy looking area as you enter the whole place is very grubby & unkempt, even a bit dirty in places - it's also very dark as if it has something to hide. Food is edible but overpriced & below average. Overall the pub needs to... More

Seating is very cramped, but the place seemed fine so we ordered 'Cod and chips'. The chips were fine, the fish was awful. It was clearly cheap supermarket-style generic frozen fish in batter. The outside was dark brown, the inside (what there was of it) was grey and looked and smelt unappetizing. Cod is a very recognizable fish; it breaks... More

Sunday dinner with my husband & mother in law. We ordered Roast beef & Roast lamb both were excellent, a selection of veg including Cauliflower, cabbage carrots & mushy peas, not sure mushy peas go with a roast dinner. We couldn't fault anything. Food or service. Excellent value. We sat by the pool table which we wasn't keen on but... More

We had booked an off road motorbike day nearby and decided to have a one night stay to save an early start. The pub was heaving on our arrival and it appeared to be a mix of local folk, people staying locally and mountain bikers who were taking part in a race weekend. Despite the crowd, we shown to our... Stopped off unexpectedly, tired and hungry around 16.00 not expecting to be able to order food. BUT amazingly the chef was happy to stay on and provide us with anything on the menu! There was a good selection very reasonably priced, freshly cooked, not from the freezer. Three of us ordered steaks, all different cuts, which were really tender. Portions... More

Any one on a trip to Pennant Melangell shrine will find this a good place for a meal. Good and ample simple food in a traditional old pub with kind and caring staff. Very useful stopping point in a region of few places to eat and rest. The scenery round here is stunning

We popped into the New Inn on Saturday night after noticing the sign for takeaway food. We ordered Scampi & chips at £7.95. The meal was huge it came in a tray with a slice of lemon & a pot of peas. It was lovely. I would highly recommend it.
