Initially found the Kings Head on the way back from Windermere, called in hoping for lunch and received a really warm welcome and an excellent lunch. We were again in the Lake District for the weekend 11th to 13th April and actually booked lunch at the Kings Head. Even though we were twenty minutes late we again received a warm... More

We needed a place to stay whilst visiting family nearby. We took a peak on hotels.com and found this place. It was well priced, had a good location and didn't insist on a 2 night minimum stay. It was easy to find, being a short distance from the main road. The hotel occupies a great location next to a stream,... More

I booked this through Laterooms and I guess my main beef is that nowhere on the Laterooms site does it tell you the serving times for breakfast. Sadly its very late for a working day and I guess this is down to a lack of workers using it who need to get on the road for work. Odd really as... More

Yes the soup here is so good. Then the main course, it just gets better. How I wish we had this wonderful eating place near us at home! Very friendly staff. No long waiting times for our food. Perfect.

En route to Durham, we stopped here for Sunday lunch. Really excellent quality food (none of this pressure-cooked rubbish) served by really helpful staff in a beautifully restored country inn. This is well worth a detour.

We spent two days here bed and breakfast, Tuesday/Wednesday 5/6th nov 2013, we had room 6, room was lovely, light and airy, kingsize bed but maybe not the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in but hey paid £130 for two nights, which included generous breakfast of cereals, fried breakfast, toast and fruit juices, also had veggy sausages, bathroom was... Family meal, as always amazing food, friendly staff. I would never go any where else. Its generally a lovely place, and well-known to my family. Can't comment on the rooms but from word of mouth they are stunning.
