had a lovely stay here last week end as a birthday treat for my partner. The rooms were lovely, clean and our (room 6) was spacious. Spot on! Staff were very helpful and the food for both the evening and breakfast was also very nice. Would stay here again. Much preferred it to the Black Swan further along the road... More

This is a lovely, lovely little place! The rooms are simple, elegant in a country contemporary way, and the beds are sooo comfortable. The bathrooms are freshly redone, and again, simple and elegant. The pub and restaurant serve wonderful food, and the atmosphere is thoroughly charming. The service was cheerful and very helpful. I would love to return to this... More

Through Sedbergh to this great backwater on the River Lune. The village has not just one but two excellent coaching inns - bluntly referred to today as pubs with rooms, how retrograde! Many walks can start here, probably the most popular being a 5 mile round walk to the viaduct. This is part of the now defunct Darlington to Cumbria... More

We ate here this evening with my Mum and her partner and had a great experience. This place has historically flooded numerous times and what an investment on cellar pumps and beautiful decor has done for it. The food was delicious and wine was lovely. I would class this as a gastro pub but even with good food and service... More

We visited here with friends in Sept 2011. We returned with different friends in Sept 2014. There were 5 of us in 3 bedrooms. The rooms are still in very good order with virtually no signs of wear and tear. Those sometimes dodgy tiles round the edge of the bath still look new; the carpet is good and the beds... More

We spent 3 nights close to the Kings Head, we popped in for coffee on the first afternoon. Staff were polite and welcoming so we booked in for dinner that evening. I had the Cumbrian Lamb and Black Pudding Pie, it sounded different and something I wouldn't normally order. It was superb, the lamb was not over powered by the... More

This is the kind of place that you don't want to tell everybody about as it's that good. Wonderful location just off the M6 in a beautiful village with a stream running outside the front of the pub. The staff were all first class and appeared to enjoy working there. I stayed in room one, which was beautiful. The food... More

We just stopped in for a drink one day, then decided to have lunch the following day because the menu looked interesting. The food was excellent, imaginative and well presented. The beer was reasonably good, and the staff were very pleasant.

A perfect little pub in a sleepy village! We received a warm welcome when we arrived early afternoon. Our room spotlessly clean with lovely white fluffy towels. Food is amazing - good choice and beautifully cooked - you certainly won't go hungry. Breakfast too is delicous with locally sourced produce - the bacon and sausage are yummy!
