We stayed for just one night as a party of four whilst travelling back from the Lake District. The place is very very nice. A great location. The rooms are beautiful and the food is excellent. It was a shame that we only booked the one night over the bank holiday weekend. This place is well worth a visit.

How lucky we are to have booked King's Head during our C2C walk. Unable to get a spot in Kirkby Stephen, just our luck to get one of the 6 rooms at Kings Head. Fantastic staff offers fine dining fare rather than typical pub fare. Our best stay along the route. Lucky that we are taking a rest day and... More

We stayed here en route back from Scotland-the village is very attractive and only a few miles from the motorway. We have stayed here before and I would still recommend it for the food, attractive surroundings, easy parking and quiet rooms. However, there were some niggles which are purely down to inattentive housekeeping. There was hardly any toilet paper left... More

Stayed here for the one night on our way to the midlands, very handy for the motorway(M6).The hotel is in a very peaceful country village,(difficult to find no signposts). On arrival the bar/restaurant area was very busy but we didn't have long to wait to be shown to our room, which was very nice, lovely comfy bed and a nice bathroom. Had... More

A building full of character. Comfortable room with a bath - ideal for walkers at the end of the Coast to Coast (our car was parked in Kirby Stephen for the duration of the walk). Fantastic food - a memorable way to celebrate walking across England!

Located in a very quiet village, this family owned and run hotel/pub/restaurant is very clean and well presented throughout. Room had everything needed for one or two night's stay & disagreeing with previous review I like the idea of wooden coat hangers on a wooden pegs on the wall which are perfectly adequate for a short stay and means no... This pub/hotel is absolutely lovely and in a peaceful location. The pub/dining area is spacious, comfortable and has a lovely relaxing atmosphere . The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is beautifully cooked. Our very pleasant room, which had everything we needed, looked out over a stream across the quiet little road. We were there for only 1... More

Had been delayed arriving so were late but despite their web-site saying they served food until 21.00 there was no table available at 20.30 on a Tuesday night. There were plenty of empty tables. Recently given a very good review for them on their restaurant trip advisor site. Got a table at a competitor pub just before 21.00 , they also... More
