We are lucky enough to live a relatively short distance of twelve or so miles from the King's Head. Yes, too far to be a "local" but close enough for the odd evening out. We had some family and friends up from the south and decided to book an evening meal at the above. Anyway enough of us and onto... More

Had lunch here on Sunday on way for an overnight stay in Windermere & the food here was the nicest we have had for a long time! Lovely staff, great atmosphere & very varied menu at a fair price - chunky chips lovely! :)

We were looking for somewhere cosy with a fire where we could have a romantic dinner for two (plus dog!) to celebrate my 50th birthday. We were looking for another pub/hotel which was signposted off the road but got lost trying to find it and came across this little gem and we booked a table straight away. When we went... More

We stop here quite often when going to the lakes either on the way there or coming back . It's great in the summer sitting out front or in the beer garden area and in the winter next to one of the fires . Never had a bad meal we find all the staff very nice and helpful . We... More

had a lovely stay here last week end as a birthday treat for my partner. The rooms were lovely, clean and our (room 6) was spacious. Spot on! Staff were very helpful and the food for both the evening and breakfast was also very nice. Would stay here again. Much preferred it to the Black Swan further along the road... More

This is a lovely, lovely little place! The rooms are simple, elegant in a country contemporary way, and the beds are sooo comfortable. The bathrooms are freshly redone, and again, simple and elegant. The pub and restaurant serve wonderful food, and the atmosphere is thoroughly charming. The service was cheerful and very helpful. I would love to return to this... More

Through Sedbergh to this great backwater on the River Lune. The village has not just one but two excellent coaching inns - bluntly referred to today as pubs with rooms, how retrograde! Many walks can start here, probably the most popular being a 5 mile round walk to the viaduct. This is part of the now defunct Darlington to Cumbria... More

We ate here this evening with my Mum and her partner and had a great experience. This place has historically flooded numerous times and what an investment on cellar pumps and beautiful decor has done for it. The food was delicious and wine was lovely. I would class this as a gastro pub but even with good food and service... More

We visited here with friends in Sept 2011. We returned with different friends in Sept 2014. There were 5 of us in 3 bedrooms. The rooms are still in very good order with virtually no signs of wear and tear. Those sometimes dodgy tiles round the edge of the bath still look new; the carpet is good and the beds... More
