My partner and myself stayed at the Plough last Sunday evening, 20th May for a birthday treat. Working for a major airline myself, I am well travelled, and fortunate to have stayed in some beautiful hotels around the world. We felt at home the moment we stepped through the door andnothing was too much trouble. The room was delightful, kindly... More

I took my elderly parents to the The Plough yesterday and to be honest was very disappointed given the excellent reviews from friends. The service was very slow and when I asked I was told that they had made a mistake with my order and so it was on its way ... it would have been good to have been... More

A firm favourite in our family and is the first place that is suggested for the location when we all head home together. We have now had numerous meals here and all have been of a really high standard. Service is great and the only problem we have ever had was dealt with quickly and efficiently, my steak was cold... Ideally located for stop off on the way back from The Lakes. Friendly welcoming staff showed us to the table in a spacious, tastefully decorated dining area which made a pleasant change from the cramped conditions you have to endure in some establishments. Fine varied selection of dishes on the menu. We opted for a mix of the smaller plates... More

We decided to call for a meal at the Plough as it is just over half way on our journey from the Lakes to Yorkshire. The food and service were excellent, especially the roasted cod on horseradish mash, but we did feel as though we were sitting in a hotel lobby area and we were affected by the traffic noise from... Thank you for recent review we are delighted that you enjoyed your meal. However we were sorry to read that the road noise had disturbed you - we do have a very large dining room that is set back away from the road in addition to the bar area which is closest to the A65. We do hope this won't... More

After reading reviews of the Plough on trip advisor my wife and I booked the Torsin room for a hopefully relaxing and restful stay, however after a rather average meal and retiring to bed we were both kept awake most of the night due to the noise of lorries and cars rumbling past our window. The room is the most... More

Thank-you for you comments and feedback we are sorry to hear that you did not sleep well, we have two suites one Torsin which is located nearest to the road and another Bellingham which is at the rear of the inn. Being a road side inn, extra sound proofing was added during the recent refurbishment as the A65 can be... More

After reading reviews of this pub with rooms we decided to take advantage of the Sunday offer advertised online. We were upgraded on arrival to the torsin suite which was fantastic. It was enormous and the bathroom was the best I have seen. I had only one fault with this lovely place and felt the experience was let down by... More

Thank you for your comments following your recent stay with us. We have been considering including a cooked breakfast in the room rate since opening, and from the autumn we will be doing so. We hope to welcome you back in the near future More

Having read in Redonline the glowing review of The Plough, we had high expectations: we were not disappointed. The 'pub' looks fairly ordinary from the busy road nearby. However, our room (Redman) was anything but ordinary - a large comfortable bedroom with an enormous bathroom with elegance, style and taste. The ambience and food were excellent. The young (and very... More

We chose this as a convenient spot for the night close to the M6 while travelling south and had to rush off in the morning, but will definitely come back and stay properly. Warm and welcoming, the staff were great, the room beautiful and the food and drink good.
