This entire property needs to be upgraded. It has been sorely neglected far too long. Could have great potential with proper management. Owner shows no signs of trying to avoid it fast becoming a slum property. This was a wonderful place when Eric Lewis opened it years ago. We would love to see it restored it to it's former glory.

I stayed here one night on a trip to Victoria Island. The room was clean but needed a huge remodel. The bottom row of tile in the shower were falling off the wall and black mold could be seen in the grout. Heating system was not functioning properly and I froze during the night. Staff was not friendly at all... More

My wife and I concluded a trip around Vancouver Island with 2 nights at the Waddling Dog. First, let me say, I was never disturbed by the dog barking. Second, the staff was extremely helpful and prompt to respond to requests. The room had 2 queen beds and was quite large and comfortable. All of the amenities were there. We... More

Our stay was ruined by the "waddling dog" of the name. The hotel staff let the dog out into the backyard of the hotel at 6am, and left him outside for the next 20 minutes which he spent barking incessantly! The atmosphere was charming, the rooms were very spacious. The breakfast was okay but they were short on most items.... More

My wife and I and two companions chose to stay a night at the Quality Inn Waddling Dog last week. I'm glad we did. This is not for those who prefer the sterility of a large chain hotel/motel. The wattle-and-daub architecture that greets you from the outside is continued on the inside with the atmosphere of a British inn. There... More

My Grandmother and I stayed at the Waddling Dog Inn last weekend. We weren't sure what to expect.. We checked in late, at around 11pm. The check in was extremely slow.. The room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. It was decorated in old tavern style.. white walls with wood beams. Beds were ok. We had the complementary... More

When you want to stay somewhere that gives you a unique experience, this is the place to stay! The Waddling Dog is full of character- antiques, old pictures, oak paneling, and dark beams. With a resident basset hound to boot! Feelings like a Faulty Towers film set. The hotel is comfortable, room clean and staff friendly. Breakfast is adequate but... More

Stayed here just before flying out of the Victoria Airport. It is an interesting small hotel with lots of atmosphere. The room was large and beds comfortable. The restaurant/pub offered some great meal options too. Very convenient to the airport too!

Breakfast was included, the dog is absolutely adorable and the room was spacious and pretty clean. However, there is a much longer list of the downsides. The 3 front desk women we encountered during our one night stay were all unfriendly, distant and rather uninterested in us as customers. The included breakfast was meager, the food was not fresh and... More

This is an older 3 story hotel that has been partially updated. The bed was pretty comfortable. The room has a wall unit heater that worked well to warm the room when it was cold outside. Located just off the highway from the ferry toward Victoria' it's a bit far out to use for a city visit but is close... More
