This place is actually pretty adorable, I would recommend it for anyone looking for a cheap stay in Powell River! It's very old and historical, built in 1911 I believe. For being that old, it's been kept up pretty well. The antique feel and vintage decor is definitely still around and adds a special charm to your stay. But they... More

As the title says, it's a heritage hotel. We had no AC in the room. Some of the windows opened (none in the bedroom) to let the ocean breeze in. That did help to cool off the room. There were also some floor fans but no ceiling fans. The room itself was acceptable with the heritage ideosyncracies, creaky hardwood floor,... More

Loved the heritage feel of this place - loved the old lobby, staircase, barbershop and diner. It was fun to poke around and feel like you were transported back to another time. The room we had was spacious and clean - lovely old wooden floorboards rather than carpet. We received a friendly welcome However it was heatwave time in BC... More

We booked a room with two queen beds directly through the booking.com link on the Rodmay Hotel website. We received a confirmation email showing that we had a room with two queen beds but shortly after the manager, Marion, contacted us to let us know that the booking website had made a mistake and only a room with a queen... What a cool old hotel in very interesting location. (Take the townsite walking tour and stop in at the brewery for a tasting). The hotel is quirky - and it's grand double curved staircase belies a grander past. Directly across from the mill - little noise and smell but just a reminder you are in a working town and not... We drove into Powell River at sunset one night last week for our first and what ended up being an only night on the Sunshine Coast. Upon disembarking from the ferry, I called this hotel to see if there was a room available. The receptionist was very nice on the phone and sounded excited that we wanted to come stay... More

A great music show was playing in a new space right across from the rodemay. I rarely go out so i thought it'd be nice to have a convenient room to hang out in with my friends. How wrong I was. First, I wasn't told their was a check-in time so I received a call from a stressed out front... More

We stayed a night at the Rodmay and found it not only a fine stay in a memorable hotel with a lot of history related to the town of Powell River but the service was superb and friendly. Chris and Howard - the help there - are a treat to meet with all kinds of stories and tales about the... More

We stayed at the Rodmay for 4 nights over the Xmas period 2013. And the experience was absolutely fantastic. The ownership and staff were wonderful and made us feel very comfortable. This is a unique heritage hotel and offers an "old time" experience that is worth trying over and over again. We'll certainly be back! Many thanks to Marion and... More

Had a great long sleep in the tastefully decorated room with beautifully finished furniture and solid sanded antique floors. We had a delicious breakfast with a heaping portion of freshly cooked eggs and excellent coffee in the on site Magpie Diner ( like stepping into a scene in the Laverne and Shirley show from the 50"s ). We were given... More
