We came during the salmon run specifically to watch bears catching salmon and we were not disappointed. We have talked for years about doing this one day. We went out twice a day for three days to watch them by the side of the river and were entertained by the bears on each occasion. Food and organisation were excellent. They... More

Our trip to Canada and Alaska including Great Bear Lodge had been 7 years in the making and saving! We spent the last 3 nights of our trip at the Great Bear Lodge on the Great Bear Nature Tour in September and what a way to end our holiday!!! Flying to the lodge in a "goose" was an experience in... We spent 3 days here on the Great Bear Nature Tour. The staff makes your feel comfortable the minute you get off the plane and step on the deck. The rooms are immaculate and super comfortable. All 3 meals you receive each day will make you feel like you are in a 5 star restaurant. We came home with at... More

Loved the Lodge, its a wonderful comfortable building in a delightful setting, the photos we have are stunning. We had amazing bear watching experiences, they were so close and we sat and watched for some time, Mum's and their cubs. The food was disappointing, poor choices and the Pizza we had one night was just like we get at our... More

To visit the Grizzly Bears in their natural habitat feeding on the salmon run has always been a Bucket list item for us, The Great Bear Lodge did not disappoint. We must have seen at least 30 bears including a lot of cubs. Be prepared to go out in any weather though to make the most of your stay at... More

Thank you so much for your review. We were happy to hear that you enjoyed this item from your bucket list, especially seeing so many bears and cubs. The staff will be delighted to hear that you thought they did a tremendous job. I am so glad that you mentioned the gear at the lodge to help people stay warm... More

The pros: The food was fabulous, varied, and plentiful. This includes the mountains of freshly baked cookies available all day as snacks. The room we had was very large, with a nice shower and toilet ensuite. The bed was massive and very comfortable. Our room didn't have a view over the inlet, but we spent so little time in there... My wife and I had talked previously about seeing grizzly bears along the Central Coast of British Columbia. We live in Richmond, BC and had gone on safari in Africa. So, for our 35th wedding anniversary we decided to go on a 'domestic' safari. Making arrangements with Great Bear Lodge was very easy, connecting by email and their toll free... More

We travelled to GBL (5 day Great Bear Experience with APT ) and then to Knight Inlet Lodge (6 night package booked independently). Tom and Marg Rivest and staff greeted us warmly at GBL mid afternoon. Room basic but comfortable with wash basin in the bedroom and en-suite shower & toilet. All clean and functional. Food was well cooked and... More

We recently stayed at the Great Bar Lodge for three nights and were impressed by the spectacular scenery and appreciated the caliber of the service to the guests by the staff of this remote lodge. The seaplane ride from Port Hardy was short, efficient and went without a hassle. The rooms are not minuscule and given the remote location, acceptably... More
