A floating hotel in the beautiful backwaters of British Columbia. What a setting. From almost any vantage point beautiful forest filled mountains and cascading waterfalls. And then there were bears. We saw grizzlies on every trip to the hide. Splashing about after salmon, some succesful, some novices learning the skills. We saw first hand how water levels and tides affect... More

Paradise! Beautiful! Off the grid. Reachable by seaplane or 1930's Goose. From the moment you step off the plane Marg and her team cannot do enough for you. The lodge is beautiful ( and floating) , the views from the deck are to die for. Sitting on the deck with a glass of wine you can actually forget your reason... More

What a wonderful place...! A litttle bit warmer and it would be paradise. The lodge is new (2015), perfect room, comfortable huge bed, private nice bathroom, nice common area with "a discretion" sweets, wine, beer & Co. at every time of the day and night, amazing deck. It is located within a marvelous natural surrounding - pure nature, nothing else.... More

What a wonderful location, a must for all, definitely needs to be on everyone's bucket list - wonderful staff, great food and endless supply of great wine. So peaceful, only the locals might visit (local bears) Just sit back and enjoy, you will not want to leave

Alas, we never spotted any bear during our stay in the Great Bear Lodge. I saw droppings and a claw mark, but the burly beasts themselves hid in the woods. So be it, it was not meant to be. But I can not say my stay in the Lodge was anything less than wonderful. We took a swim in the... More

The trip provided some of the best scenery anywhere. The flight in and out over the coast mountains lakes and ocean was spectacular. The lodge is situated at an incredibly scenic spot on a deep fjord with mountains all around and a huge estuary. Both the staff and fellow guests greet you as you arrive. You soon learn that you... This was an amazing trip. The flight over was breathtaking, the mouth of the river is majestic, the lodge is beautiful and the staff are friendly and passionate about what they do. I work as a GM of a hotel and I can find it hard staying in other hotels. But this was no ordinary hotel. This was an amazing... More

My wife had an urge to see some bears, she was not disappointed. But this place is far more than that, it was a great learning experience as well, the guides could not have been more informative, even with our constant dumb questions! Their patience was endless. The evening meal was an experience in itself with I think Tom who... More

Nice rooms, amazing staff, incredible food - and bears, bears, bears. Tom and his staff are devoted to giving his guests a first class experience - and at the same time an education about the amazing environment of the Great Bear Rain Forest. The evolution of this area, and why the ecology had evolved to what it is - and... More

We planned our entire trip to Canada around this tour and it did not disappoint. For years my husband and I have dreamed of seeing grizzly bears in the wild and our experience at the Great Bear Lodge was like walking into a David Attenborough documentary - an experience of a lifetime! We were due to depart from Port Hardy... More
