The midnight check in after arriving by BC Ferries from Prince Rupert was welcoming and efficient. We wished we could have stayed longer but we had tickets for the morning bus to Courtenay. The Greyhound Bus Station was very close to the Backpackers so very convenient in that regard.

In a converted theatre, this hostel offers clean, quiet accommodations in a town which is always fully booked on 'ferry ' days. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Given the wicked ferry schedule (departure and arrival) , they seemed to be on duty 24hrs, and always cheerful. 'Single' means a bed in a dorm, if in a group try... More

This is THE place to stay in Port Hardy if you are on a budget. You can rent a bunk in a big room with a group, a single room with shared bathroom or a private room with shower. They have a wonderful cafe next door that opens really early and serves great breakfast coffee, muffins and cinnamon buns. It... More

We arrived late at night, but we were pleasantly surprised. We had reservations, but the hostel staff managed to get us a different room with a better deal. He was very friendly, and told us about the area, and gave us good directions for catching the ferry the next morning. We would stay here again.

My daughter and I, from Edinburgh Scotland, UK, stayed in a private family room for one night in June. The staff stayed up late (mid-night) to meet and greet us from the late ferry arriving in Port Hardy from Prince Rupert. The room, bedding, showers, kitchen and public space were all excellent. We had good internet and encountered many extras... More

We stayed here as part of a three month trip before heading to Prince Rupert via the Inside Passage. Overall, it was a mixed experience. We are not picky travellers but did feel C&N Backpackers missed the mark in quite a few areas. The hostel is in a great location, close to shops/trails and v. quiet. Patrick, the inn keeper,... Ok this is the oddest Hostel experience we have ever had. They say they only take reservations by phone. We arrive to see a note on the glass door saying to call for reservations. The woman who runs it has a room next to the door so she sees everyone who comes to the door. She invited us in and... More

As the name says, this hostel is so awesome. We were greeted by the lady innkeeper with a smile on her face and much warmth. She and her friend, a gentleman who is a professional photographer, explained to us all about Port Hardy and the surrounding area. They were so helpful and made our stay here at Port Hardy so... We stayed here after a long ferry trip from Bella Coola The accommodations were OK - nothing fancy ... a basic room, nothing more It was quite expensive for what we got - a small room, no TV, and a shared bathroom I would probably think about driving south before staying there again

Used TripAdivsor to settle on staying here and we were not dissapointed. After getting off the ferry, we found it easily and quickly in the dark. The host was extremely nice and offered us some great conversation. He even let me park my motorcyle on the sidewalk right next to the window of my room so I could keep and... More
