The best part of the place is surely the welcome. The large corridor, with impressive staircase and all these large rooms around offering large displays of history. It like going back in time, where the Aubergiste gives you a warm personal welcome. The room was huge and the bathroom organized around this old cast ironed lion legged bathtub from the... More

We stayed for one night, but left feeling so relaxed and reinvigorated, it felt like a week. Marie ans Michael are charming hosts and are very attentive but in no way intrusive. There are lots of lovely touches. The key has a torch attached - essential when walking home from the pub! Fresh milk is provided for your tea, and... More

'Just' a B+B, but superb, helpful owners and lovely space. If you are in the area, fully recommended. We stayed for a sat night, superb breakfast and very comfy beds. Interesting building, very high ceilings and lovely views. Recommended.

Another very special weekend spent at Mayfield Hall with Marie and Michael. The most wonderful accommodation in a beautiful seeing. Breakfast was delicious and the strawberry coulis was to die for. Dinner at the Rose and Crown was also up to their normal very high standards. Strongly recommend this place.

What a great place to stop if you want a break with stunning country views. The house is like stepping back in time, with huge fireplaces and high ceilings. Very peaceful and pleasant. The room we stayed in was huge with a bed that was unbelievably comfortable. The bathroom was also large with both a bath and shower. Breakfast was... More

Stayed at Mayfield Hall for just one night, having found it by chance on Trip Advisor. What a find - a superb house which has maintained its character despite having been modernised in an entirely sympathetic way. The owners are unfailingly helpful and accommodating, and the breakfast puts larger and far more expensive hotels to shame. Although it's not that... More

Thank you to Marie and Michael for making our wedding such a special experience for us and our guests. It is hard to imagine a more beautiful and quintessentially English location for such a very international wedding. Why get married in a tent and stay at home with your family when you can enjoy the grandeur of Mayfield Hall, the... More

If you've ever wondered what it's like to live in house that is ~400 years old then Mayfield Hall may well help. We stayed in the Dove room which was large with an enormous bathroom but its not the most luxurious in the house. Set amongst manicured lawns and an ornamental pond, it is quiet and tranquil. Semi-circular ornamental steps... More

My partner and I stayed at Mayfield Hall for 2 nights - we don't drive and so caught the Swift bus from Derby which stops close by. Marie and Michael were very welcoming, laid back and professional throughout our stay; I can't praise them enough. We found exploring the gardens and local areas to be a lot of fun, as... More
