Stayed at Mayfield Hall for just one night, having found it by chance on Trip Advisor. What a find - a superb house which has maintained its character despite having been modernised in an entirely sympathetic way. The owners are unfailingly helpful and accommodating, and the breakfast puts larger and far more expensive hotels to shame. Although it's not that... More

Thank you to Marie and Michael for making our wedding such a special experience for us and our guests. It is hard to imagine a more beautiful and quintessentially English location for such a very international wedding. Why get married in a tent and stay at home with your family when you can enjoy the grandeur of Mayfield Hall, the... More

If you've ever wondered what it's like to live in house that is ~400 years old then Mayfield Hall may well help. We stayed in the Dove room which was large with an enormous bathroom but its not the most luxurious in the house. Set amongst manicured lawns and an ornamental pond, it is quiet and tranquil. Semi-circular ornamental steps... More

My partner and I stayed at Mayfield Hall for 2 nights - we don't drive and so caught the Swift bus from Derby which stops close by. Marie and Michael were very welcoming, laid back and professional throughout our stay; I can't praise them enough. We found exploring the gardens and local areas to be a lot of fun, as... More

I fell in love with Mayfield hall and Marie and Michael my then lovely boyfriend proposed to me and we now plan to get married there. Warm friendly welcome, beautiful building and grounds as well as the local pub The Rose and Crown and the villagers making you feel welcome. Highly recommended and if you asked my family and friends... More

We stayed here for a family wedding and were extremely well looked after by Michael and Marie, who are very good at looking after people in a professional way, whilst retaining a fairly laid back and delightful ambience at the same time. A rare combination. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and were treated to a wonderful breakfast... More

We stayed here for three nights in November 2014 and were the only guests. The grandeur of Mayfield Hall was perfectly balanced by the warm and convivial welcome of our hosts, Marie and Michael. The large country house may be in need of a little tlc in places but overall the house and gardens exude grand style, warmth, comfort and... More

Due to traffic problems we didn't actually arrive until 5 to midnight. Despite that Michael made us feel welcome with fresh milk for a late night cuppa. The bed was big, comfy and we enjoyed a quiet room. The breakfasts were great with fresh home baked bread. Lashings of hot water for washing and a big deep bath to soak... More

Stayed here twice and only one night on each occasion but wished for more. Arriving felt like being welcomed into someone's home (it is I suppose) - delightful rooms, amazing house, spectacular grounds, wonderful atmosphere and the best breakfast ever!! Love the Mayfield and can't wait to return. We went with friends, two toddlers and a new born. Everything that we... More

It's difficult to know where to start to review Mayfield Hall. It is the most beautiful venue that was perfect for our wedding day. We knew right from our first meeting with Marie and Michael that it was right for us. We were able to use the hall as a blank canvas and bring in our own caterers, bar and... More
