On our way home to Yorkshire we found this pub by chance after following a sign to a 'food bar'. It was a bit out of our way, but well worth the visit. Beef Stew was a 'special' on the lunchtime menu and was absolutely delicious, served with plenty of lovely fresh bread and extremely reasonably priced. The staff were... More

Called in for lunch whilst out walking . Made welcome and found clean toilets and plenty of hot water to ensure our hands were clean. Essential at any eating place. The lunch menu was very limited with the only potatoes being chips. On asking for an alternative I was offered a jacket at extra cost, but common sense returned and... More

Having just come over some muddy fields my colleague and I were a little apprehensive as we entered the pub, but we were met by the landlord who didn't make a fuss about our muddy boots or wet clothes. We sat in the bar area and had a couple of pints of Timothy Taylor's Landlord, which was well kept, and... More

Stopped by the Crown on the spur of the moment for lunch. Enjoyed a wonderful tasty meal. I had the "Hunter's Chicken", and my wife had a "Tuna Sandwich" plate. I don't think I've ever had a better tasting chicken dish. I think the place is under recently new management. We met who I believe to be the new manager... More

A disappointing meal, booked table and given menu but was not offered a drink so fetched own from bar. It was very hot due to fire so moved to sit in the bar as the only other table available was in the middle with everyone squeezing past. The front door was then opened apparently as it was too hot in... More

Newly opened with an owner that clearly has a passion to bring people together in a traditional , yet classy setting. This place oozes quality and attention to detail. We will be back to try an overnight stay when the rooms are complete. Try the butternut squash soup for a warming treat on a cold day. Lovely visit.

My husband and I went to The Crown for lunch today. The newly refurbished bar and restaurant are beautiful. The interior design is perfect. The food was lovely, staff were very attentive and helpful. We are looking forward to going back soon. The outdoor area which is covered and heated is great for all seasons. They are currently refurbishing 7... More

Went for an evening meal as a family of four, 2 adults and 2 teenagers, great food and service. New owner has made a great job of the refurbishment retaining its country pub feeling, very nice decor indoors and pleasant outdoor area. Suitable for all ages
