I can only write about our room in the Annex – and it was a shock. After navigating the crooked boardwalk to the Annex we open our room’s door and were met with an atmosphere of dampness and the odour of mildew. On putting down the wheeled suitcase between the beds, it immediately rolled across the sloped floor. There were... More

It's definitely old but clean. Staff was definitely nice ande helpful. I would not stay again. The steps to the 2nd floor were toooo steep and narrow for this 65+ couple. The flooring was soooo slanted. Definitely had character

"It looked nice in the pictures", was our nine-year-old grandson's first remark as we entered the hotel. To be fair, it is described as being built in the early 1900s, so the sloping floors, peeling paint, and ill-fitting windows were to be expected, but at $138 a night, one would expect more refurbishment. The beds were rock-hard and my pillow... More

We apologize profusely for your recent dining experience while staying here at the inn. We should have been more proactive one, in letting you know the difference in price when the evening menu changed and two, the wait staff making it clear that the appetizer and dessert was not included in the meal price. Our menu is not written as... More

We enjoyed our stay at the marathon inn. It was close to many places at the North Head. We had supper at the inn which was very good but we were told by the waitress that the salad and dessert were part of the meal and realized when we got our bill that they were not.

Loved, loved, loved visiting Grand Manan Island, and would strongly recommend the trip. However, we were disappointed with the condition of the Marathon Inn. Wonderful staff, very pleasant and helpful, but the Inn needs lots of TLC. It's old, wooden decks are rotting in places not to mention sloping like crazy, room was damp and musty. The place is really... More

I can't say enough good about this place. My room was beautiful (room 5) with a view of the port. It was decorated in antiques, with a claw-foot bathtub. The bed was comfortable. Because of the cool climate, I did not need the a/c in July. This is supposedly the oldest continuously operating inn in Canada and the home is... More

Built in the 1870's its one of the oldest in Maritime Canada. If you are looking for a cookie cutter Holiday Inn this is not for you. On hand, extremely knowledgeable Inn Keeper who is always available to answer questions. Heated outdoor pool and beautiful verandas with rockers and a view of the water. We preferred the rooms in the... More

My request on this our second visit to this in was " one with a view and a claw tub " which is exactly what we got .. A big room , huge bathroom but for the view up three flights of stairs . Have only myself to blame for that. Gave us some exercise ,, glad we don't have... More

Very friendly people, very nice experience of an old motel. Loved it, would have loved to have more time to stay! They let us visit the copola upstair where we signed our name! We had time to take a good breakfast in the morning like they use too in the old time

Wonderful old hotel, complete with "old building" quirks, a friendly staff, and comfortable facilities. You can get a glass of wine and sit on the veranda, watching the view and enjoying the sun. Lots of ways to relax and enjoy oneself on the island, and the guest rooms are meant to be slept in, not a retreat to hide in... More
