Ten years after we first discovered it, Sportsman motel remains the place we always choose to go when having our yearly holiday in Picton/Sandbanks. With its highly favourable price-quality ratio, this nice motel overlooking Picton Bay offers fully equipped clean and quiet rooms with comfortable beds but nothing superfluous you don’t need to pay for. And for longer stays, the... More

Tried a single room, on the photos it looked quite clean and neat. Not at all. The bed is the only satisfactory element in the room. Old and worn furniture, not necessarily clean moreover, the carpets old and durty, a quite depressing environment. Noisy neighbours too, this motel may actually be for so called "sportsmen" or even truckers. Did not... More

No phone or coffee maker in room. Clean but to pricey for what you get. Small tv, they only supply two plastic cups. Room was clean and people very friendly. Stayed there 1 night, just a get away and was nice and quiet.

Staff was not friendly. $110.00 per night and $10 extra for each visitor. It was your typical motel room, the same as any others. It did have a little kitchenette with table and chairs which was awesome for playing cards at.

Last minute wine tour on a long weekend equals you get what you get. This motel was just that. Nothing fancy and no extras. Offer clean towels and clean sheets. Dated rooms with a terrible paint job is better than setting up a tent in the rain. Lady at the counter was polite in person, but was not as pleasant... More

Recently stayed at the Sportsman for two nights. The room was spotless , the linens were clean and fresh and the room very comfortable. There is no hair dryer or coffee maker or many thrills. Keep this in mind. I recommend this motel and will come back again. Staff are very pleasant and friendly.

This is a clean BASIC motel that is ideally located if you are fishing and bringing your boat with you. The price was excellent (about $100) which included a small kitchenette which is good for fixing an early breakfast before heading out on the water. Public FREE launch is about 1 or 2 km north and the town of Picton... More

The Motel is clean and very comfortable. we were in Picton on a fishing trip and wanted something that would allow us early rise and quick access to the water, Our room had 2 double beds, Kitchenette and Bathroom. Beds were comfortable and everything worked. Kitchen was stocked with pots and pans and utensils. Price was reasonable. Boat launch is... More
