My brother and I spent a couple of days on the peninsula in early June, wandering around Tofino and Ucluelet. Lots of great souvenirs, of course, and one of the best parts was that campground. First, it is very well placed : though a bit isolated (the access isn't easy, about 15 minutes by car away from the main road),... More

The olace is amazing.Yes the dirt road can be a bit chunkey at times but not the worst I have traveled. After 8km of logging road you enter the property and all you see is the view of the open ocean, next stop Japan. If you like wilderness camping along with whales, bears, seals and all sorts of other wildlife this is the place for... We stayed for 3 nights at Mussel Beach and really enjoyed our stay. Great location by the water, good sites, and we liked being away from things so didn't mind the 8km/20 min drive down gravel road. Lori was friendly as we checked in and later had a request. Hot showers, outhouses kept tidy, generous wheelbarrow of firewood for $10.

The short drive from civilization and the pristine condition the campground is in as it sits beside the vastness of the ocean makes for in incredible location that is intimate and beautiful. The grounds are extremely well kept and the beach is filled with incredible driftwood structures like a raised full-size dance floor and a huge single-piece driftwood bar. If... More

We have stayed at Mussel Beach with a group of friends for the last two Canada Days and have committed to next year as well. If you like wilderness camping (no service, out houses etc) then this is the place for you. If you are a "glamper", go elsewhere. If your vehicle cannot handle a gravel road, turn back. Seriously,... Mussel Beach is a wilderness campsite on a pristine waterfront accessed down 8km (20-30mins) of gravel logging roads, i.e. drive SLOW. This part will not be for everyone, but was exactly what we were looking for. It is a really special spot; the beachfront offers tremendously varied terrain from soft sand and surf to craggy boulderscapes to glacial rock face... More

We started camping at Mussel Beach Three Summers Ago. It is the BEST kept secret on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The Hosts are great and they have always gone out of their way for our family. They treat our kids great and will always offer to chip in when there is something awry in our RV or gear.... More

We have been travelling to the west coast for 30 years. 5 years ago we discovered Mussel Beach and honestly we not only fell in love with the beach but we found Lori and Curtis to be amazing hosts willing to go above and beyond for their customers. The facilities are always well cared for, clean and there's a mutual... More

The campground is beautiful with a beautiful beach to explore. I really enjoyed playing in the tidal pools with my daughter and the rest of my family I was camping with. That being said, our experience with the grounds keeper (he may be an owner) on three separate occasions (all were silly like where to wash our wet suits) was... More

I do believe the main issue was the speed limits. Mussel Beach is a family campground and as managers one of our responsibilities is to ensure a safe place for families to play, ride bikes, walk etc. thru the campground. We do however come across a few campers that have difficulties following the guidelines posted for ensure safety for all.... More

What a beautiful place. My husband and I drove up from Victoria looking for a campsite in Tofino and were appalled by the prices so headed to Uclulet exploring. Thank god we took the turn down the long gravel road to Mussel Beach. The campsite is great, location is amazing, and the owners are wonderful. Thanks for everything!
