We loved our room with non-obstructed ocean view. Lulled by the sound of the ocean each night. Staff leaves a lot to be desired. Ranged from disinterested to just not knowledgeable. Poor management at the front desk resulted in long waits time after time. No concierge. Front desk says they are well versed in the area but could not provide... More

We recently went to stay for 3 nights at the Black Rock Oceanfront Resort. We stayed in one of the cabins and were told after we arrived that there would be no housekeeping although we could call the front desk for supplies. However, a "housekeeper" opened our door and just walked in. I called the front desk to complain and... More

Dear AAV50, Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns with your stay mid-July. Please accept my sincere apologies that a member of our team entered your room with out knocking or announcing themselves. I am sure they greatly regret the error and feel terrible for the intrusion. Stayed for 2 night on our trip around Vancouver Island The hotel is modern and bright. We upgrade to a 1 bed suite and it was well worth the few extra $ it had a massive balcony over looking the Pacific ocean. It had all the facilities you could wish for large bathroom with separate tub and massive walk in... More

Let me just say you would have a hard time finding anything wrong with this place. Service, rooms, food and location are just perfect. They have a nice hot tub and pool. Not a large pool, but it doesn't seem to be overly busy. Both are located in a very scenic setting.

Another couple and ourselves shared an Oceanview 2 Bdrm.Trail Suite. The wraparound views from the living rooms and bedrooms were nothing short of spectacular with tidal pools, trees, rocks and the waves of the open ocean beyond. The suite contained great amenities, including full size fridge, dishwasher, cooker, microwave and washer/dryer. We did plenty of late afternoon entertaining with friends... More

We moved to Black Rock after discovering that another local resort was situated in a "modern" architectural disaster of a building with no air flow. Despite the higher price, the view from the room was something special, and the overall experience was unfo9rgettable. The proximity to outstanding nature made Black Rock an experience unlike any other.

Despite the expensive rooms, they charge 65 $ extra for normal room maintenance during your stay. A new low point for the hotel industry and an excellent reason, besides the always foggy whether and the electricity brake downs, to book another resort.

The Black Rock is a great choice for families, friends or couples who are looking for accommodations on the West side of Vancouver Island. Ucluelet is very close to the deep rain forest on the island's West shore, and a wonderful place from which to explore. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with another couple, and the accommodations were... More

Hotel is great, a little pricey but amazing views of the rugged west coast. Just don't eat at the restaurants, not worth it! We found the service really bad the last time we were there and the food too

We had quite high expectations and the first impressions were quite good. We arrived on an exceptionally hot day and the rooms were very warm. Obviously most of the year is very cold and they are well equipped with heating, fires etc. but no cooling when it is warm. We had a two-bedroom suite and the accommodation was more than... More
