The place is perfect for any travelers, its far from Maseru but its worth the stay, the roads are not very good but if you are on your 4X4 you wont worry. lots of activities, pony ride, horse ride, hikes, abseilin and the beautiful waterfall. we went there for a holiday and we had a great time. the food was... The area of Semonkong is stunning. The hikes themselves are maybe not as beautiful as Malealea or North-East Lesotho, but the destinations of the hikes (Maletsunyane Falls, etc.) are gorgeous. And perfect to do without a guide. That makes a hike twice as good already. De lodge is good for any kind of traveller. From camping to ensuite. Low-budget travellers... More

Semonkong Lodge is the perfect place to just get away from it all. The rondaval room (including a fireplace) saw us sitting almost every night relaxing in front of the fire, after a day of either hiking, walking along the river or abseiling the highest commercially operates abseil in the world! It was an overall incredible experience, one that we'll... More

We were visiting South Africa and wanted to check out Lesotho. We were so glad we did! Semonkong is this wonderful little village and Semonkong Lodge was a great place to stay. The ride to and from the village was beautiful and I can see why Lesotho is called the Mountain Kingdom. We stayed in a very quaint round hut... More

Highly recommend this unique lodge in the mountains of Lesotho. I went with a friend and we hiked, did the donkey pub crawl, and enjoyed a morning horseback riding trip to see great views and the famous spiral aloe plant. The food is great, the shop has wonderful local crafts, and the management was friendly and helpful. It's wonderful that... More

Semonkong Lodge We were on our way from Cape Town to Lesotho to “tick the Lesotho box” in my “bucket list” We entered Lesotho via the well documented Sani Pass that was an experience on its own. There is evidence of road construction from Underburg and in the Sani pass that clearly indicate that the rumours are true that these... More

What an amazing few days in the mountains! Tea in bed in the mornings, horse rides to the waterfall, abseiling, walks along the river, fly fishing, a cosy bar, delicious food, a roaring fire to welcome you to bed and of course the most welcoming and friendly staff!....everything you need when escaping the city! We will be back....

Lesotho is very rustic, so we were pleasantly surprised by the quality at Semonkong. The rooms are very comfortable, the food was great and the service excellent. We loved the abseiling (highest in the world!), the guys were super professional and we felt very safe. The donkey pub-crawl is not something you can say you do every weekend, great experience... A whole new world full of adventures awaits you up there! Whether its on your mountain bike, with your trail running shoes or climbing gear (yes, there are bolted routes right next to the lodge), Semonkong will take your breath away. Great place also to chill and relax and be assured that the food up there is probably the best... More

Just back from a week in Lesotho, ending our trip at Semonkong Lodge. What a fantastic place for a holiday. From the night watchman to the manager, we experienced only friendly, helpful and smiling service - how fantastic is that! Once again, thanks to the barman who went out of his way to assist us with his cellphone (our MTN... More
