I Live in Maseru and visit of Semonkong is a must at least few times a year. I stayed in various accommodation options from dormitory to rondavels. All are decently priced and well taken care off. The food is good , the activities offered in the lodge can find answer in anyones heart. Love the hike to the waterfall or... More

We stayed here for 3 nights during our South Africa/Swaziland and Lesotho trip. After going trouhg the village of Semonkong you go a steep road down and you arrive at this beautifull located lodge. The main route between villages in the area runs on the ground of this lodge so always enough to see. Located allong a river and surrounded... More

Semonkong is a small rural village equipped with supermarkets, bars, pop up stalls, street food and the Semonkong lodge. The lodge is reasonably difficult to get to, with our little hire car struggling on the rocky and steep road. Head into the village off the main road, and keep going down hill turning right after the football pitch, and heading... More

It's a picturesque journey SE from Roma along a smooth newly sealed road all the way to Semonkong. The last km or so is, as so many have posted, pretty bad. But driven slowly, our 2WD had no problem negotiating the potholed road. The rondavel rooms which we found to be quite comfortable, are set on the hill overlooking the... More

In the middle of the mountain kingdom, Lesotho [Southern Africa]... lies Semonkong Lodge an eco friendly piece of paradise hidden in a small gorge next to the Maletsunyane river. ..Perfectly clean stone and thatched ensuite rondavels with fireplaces .. perfect balance of civilisation and rustic elegance. Price for camping: around 80 R. Also rooms. We wanted to stay there, but the last part of the access was really bad and we did not take the risk with the small rental sedan car. The lodge is down near the river and on the slopes of a hill. We had a look, it´s nice, but no direct views... More

I took a 2 hour car ride from Maseru to go see the Maletsunyane Falls. When I arrived the owner, Armelle, looked upset right from the get go. By the way, the place is a ghost town. No one eating in the restaurant, and I was the only person to rent a horse that day. Goes to show you how... More

Hi Jerry. We are sorry you felt this way, especially when you shared such happy photos of your visit to Semonkong across our various online platforms. It is a pity that you didn't raise any of these concerns with us directly at the lodge, as we would have happily cleared up some of your doubts. The R365 is the day... More

[I actually visited in March 2014, not this year, and have taken embarrassingly long to get around to writing this review!] We stayed two nights at Semonkong Lodge, as a group of around ten, as a weekend break, from three months volunteering around the Maseru and Mafeteng districts. It was so worth the length of time it took to travel... More

Very nice and helpful people, did a quick booking using email, we came in late and that wasn't a problem at all. The lodge was great, beautiful fireplace with the wood you need and a very comfortable bed. Love this place, though it is hard to find!

Great service, very nice room with open fire, good restaurant, top service. Fantastic place to see the village en the people in the village. Along the lodge you see the locals riding on horses, in traditional cloth. Very good and affordable guides to explore the region. Good development work for the local community. Our topplace in 21-days-trip South Africa
