We came to the Fortezza Viscontea to have a single-night stop in the Bergamo area without staying in town (we've been there, and wanted to see the countryside). This was the perfect spot. Not only is the property historically amazing, but the rooms have every mod-con and it all works! And given that it is a bit off the beaten... More

A XIII century castle, on a river bank, preserved and changed as to be in time with our days. A very nice location, a plaza just in front of it, Peruchetti. Wonderful rooms, my favorite the one set on 2 floors. Excellent restaurant though not open on Sunday and Monday? Lovely soroundings and view. Good choice for a romantic escape;... More

I had planned to stay only one day. Because, far from Milan... However, for the first time in this hotel, I made up my mind to stay more. It is very peaceful and beautiful hotel. The exterior is classic, but the inside is very modern. The rooms are well renovated in a very convenient and clean. Cons...WiFi does not work,... More

I spent one night and two days in this location for business meetings. The location is great, ancient fortress nicely restructured and well maintained. The room was ok, basic but nice fornitures. Good breakfast. The organization for the meetings was not great. Restaurant not ad sufficient level! Overall good experience from the location stand point, but need to be improved... More

It is nice to stay in a hotel that is so rich in history. The walls are full of old artwork and maps. A walk down to the large island in the river gives a great perspective to the hotel and its strategic location. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious with great... More

I took my girlfriend here for her birthday after securing a fantastic deal at less than half price for one of their suites. Although it was a distance from Malpensa airport and in the middle of a very little Milanese town, it offers the seclusion and romantic hospitality that tourism usually butchers. The Fortezza is a carefully renovated fort on... More

Can you imagine? A castle older than 1.300 years? The place where Leonardo da Vinci studied flying? Original wall paintings more than 1.000 years old? High above the beautiful river Adda? This hole place, all the staff, the atmosphere, just everything makes you feel you are the personal guest of the duke. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful, they... More

To be fair, this hotel is beautiful - a tremendous amount of history in this historic castle. If I was staying at this hotel with my wife, I would rank this hotel much higher. However, this is not the place for a single/business traveller. Restaurant and bar is closed Sunday-Tuesday. The neighbourhood is a ghost town after 8pm. I also... More

If you are looking for a place to stay for a relaxed holiday with the possibility of pleasant day trips around the north of Italy (Lombardy)! Then this is the right place for you. We did day trips to Milan, Como, Lecco and Bergamo, which works great with a rental car. The very old building is full of charm and... More

We stayed at Fortezza Viscontea for a wedding that was going to be at this hotel and we thought it would be easier than staying in Milan....this was a great decision. Fortezza Viscontea is a castle in a small city, recently renovated and with very nice rooms. We were welcomed by Richard, the hotel manager who had done everything to... More
