The Old Excise house is in a great location to explore the Southern part of the island, though nowhere is too far away on Islay. Ron and Emma have created a lovely relaxing place to stay with all the comforts of home plus a few little extras. Breakfast with all it’s home cooking was a treat to look forward to... More

Absolutely fabulous, Ron and Emma looked after us well. Emma works so hard to provide fabulous breakfasts with fresh home baked bread and treats daily. Ron is a great host and will always be able to tell you what is going on, they are naturals at this and I hope we will be back to stay with them again in... More

Emma and Ron have created a truly warm and welcoming B & B out of the "Old Excise House" on Islay. Directly across the road from a spectacular coastline and strategically placed near the world's best scotch distilleries, this spectacular house is relaxing and secluded (aka quiet) yet within minutes of great restaurants, fun pubs, unlimited nature walks, hikes and... This has to be the best B&B experience we have ever had. Ron and Emma keep an impeccable house. It is full of charm and warmth without being overt. We had two nights in June and were given the most delicious breakfast with hand made jams, scones, muffins...I could go on but I think you will see from the other... More

I am writing this whilst sipping a fine Islay Ale on the Ferry from Port Ellen to Kennacraig, as the last sight of Laphroaig, Lagavulen, and Ardbeg distilleries slip behind their headlands, and having had the most wonderful time exploring Islay's many treasures and staying with Emma and Ron at the Old Excise House B & B - or by... This was our second trip to the Old Excise House, and it was like returning to see old friends. Ron and Emma are warm and welcoming without being overbearing and Emma's baking is fantastic. They're also both great sources of information about the island, and really keen to help and make sure you have a great time. Since our vist... More

This B&B is among the loveliest property of any type I've visited. Ron and Emma are the loveliest hosts, warm and welcoming, but eager for you to go and do. Their home is well curated and beautiful, but comfortable and warm as well. The food Emma whips up for breakfast is superb and when we had to leave early for... More

Ron and Emma took care of all of the details to make our trip to Islay comfortable and memorable. We were on a special diet at the time, and Emma still managed to make breakfasts that were absolutely delicious! I am still not sure how she managed to make such a scrumptious vegan cake. I think there was probably some... More

It's all been said before in previous reviews :) Emma and Ron made us feel very welcome and their clever setup easily makes you forget it's not your own place. Wood burner is a great touch. Breakfast is fantastic. Would definitely return. Thanks for making it a very memorable birthday!
