A wonderful snowshoeing and dog sledding mother/daughter trip was so exciting and adventurous that the following winter went back with my husband and did the overnight dog sledding to a luxurious cabin deep in Wells Grey Park as well as a very full day of snowmobiling. The dog sledding is especially something you will not forget. Cabins are private, clean... More

Excellent Stay, very friendly staff, winter wonderland off the beaten track in snowy conditions. Unique Dog Sledding experience (not a commercial enterprise like Sun Peaks or Revelstoke). Personal Service. Absolutely fantastic little wood cabins.... Loved our stay, would recommend to anyone.

Like a previous reviewer, we ended up here as it was recommended by our guest house, who were not providing dinner that evening. I can honestly say that this was by far the worst meal we had in our whole 3.5 week visit to Canada, It really is an insult to offer 'bison burgers' and then provide the cheapest frozen... More

I came for 1 day in June with a tour group & fell in love with Clear water lake area & decided to come back for a 3 day canoe camping trip run by the ranch. As a lone traveller, the manager & the staffs were very welcoming & inclusive. The ranch setting is just stunning especially at sunset. Food... More

We stayed two nights in the ranch. The rooms are all ground floor, spread out in several buildings, all wood, with a common terrance looking out over the fields. Large meadows around, near the entrance a small church. The meadows are used for camping, there are some shower buildings on the premises. The rooms nice, not very big, the shower... More

This place was recommended by our B & B host as they were not offering meals on this particular night. The Black Horse Saloon restaurant part of the Wells Gray Guest Ranch. We were looking forward to an authentic experience but were left feeling totally ripped off. The food was truly awful - beef burgers were of the frozen variety,... More

Stayed for 2 nights after driving from Whistler. Just what was needed after such a long journey. Cabin was very clean but somewhat cramped, with only a standard double bed (blankets not duvet) and only room for one bedside table. No kitchenette, just a 'kitchen cabinet' with kettle, microwave and toaster but no plates, bowls or cutlery. The weather was... More

We were encouraged by the information center and our B and B to dine at the Black Horse Saloon at the Wells Gray Ranch. Don't waste an evening being a tourist sitting around picnic tables surrounded by fake wagon trains while the gas grills are fired up for steaks( tough)' frozen salmon( really, in Canada ?) and chicken. Side dishes... More

We enjoyed a lot! First you deceide the meat (or fish) you like to eat and then you can seat down, relax and have some salat. The nudle and the coleslaw salat was fantastic. After 10-15 min. you get informed that the BBQ is ready, so you can go outside, take a plate, take ketchup, vegetables, beans and then you... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
WESTERN HOSPITALITY ON A GUEST RANCH AT THE ENTRANCE TO BEAUTIFUL WELLS GRAY PARK Despite the rapid growth of its urban centers, much of Western Canada is still untamed frontier. One of those areas is the Wells Gray Park, 5200 sq. kilometer of protected wilderness in Central British Columbia. Bounded on the north and east by the Cariboo Mountains, and on the west by an upland plateau, the Wells Gray Park encompasses a broad spectrum of mountain scenery. The area is abundant in flora and fauna. Caribou, moose, black bear, beaver and wolf freely roam the park, and local streams are well stocked with trout. Horseback riding, fishing, mountain biking, river rafting, hiking and canoeing into the local wilderness are all part of the ranch's daily summer routine. In the winter the most popular activities are dog-sledding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and wildlife viewing. Your skilled guide will lead you to adventures on remote mountains, valleys and lakes in a setting as spectacular as it is challenging ... more   less
