I did not feel comfortable at the ranch. First of all they were not particularly kind. The room was very poor compared to what we spent. The breakfast was poor as well. The only good thing was the camping organized or supported by them which includes three days on the Clearwater lake. That was awesome! Fred, the guide who stayed... More

I wanted to go Dog Sledding for my 60 th birthday but I wanted to snow shoe and snow mobile too. An easy request unless you are in New Zealand and that birthday is 14 days away. This place had it all and the atmosphere that took me back to memories of Canada in the winter. The log cabin room... More

We where here 5 years ago and we selected the ranch again for our trip to Canada this fall. We wend back because of the great location in the Wells Gray park, in which not many hotels, inns etc. are located. Also because of the tours they organize during your stay. For us it was a day trip with a... More

The location is superb, very quiet. 27km from Clearwater. We would reccomend that you eat dinner before you go or drive back out to Clearwater to the Blue Loon grill, an eatery reccomended by the excellent visitors centre in Clearwater. The ranch is comfortable, rooms a little dated, but it had an excellent shower! The dinner there was basic for... More

We took the bunkhouse, which is like camping indoor. It has no electricity no water. it is cheap, basic and rather dirty. But we had no choice since we did not have a tent. Otherwise camping would have been the better option. Food is ridiculously priced. Not worth it. Breakfast is OK though. Service is professional and not particularly flexible.... More

When we first arrived we were bowled over. It looks like an authentic ranch, is in a stunning setting and the cabins are very characterful. There were beautiful ponies in the meadow just outside our room. However we felt that some things could have been better, possibly because they were having a very busy time. The bin in our room... We booked a special online which include accomodation for 2nights, food and a day of sightseeing and conoeing. The accomodation was log cabins. Although basic inside, it was clean. The Ranch may not be a working ranch but it has a good vibe and is a great break away as there is no cell phone coverage. The day of sightseeing... More

Our first experience of staying on a ranch exceeded all our expectations. The accommodation was very comfortable with the bonus of looking out at the horses grazing nearby, and the occasional coyote. We did horse riding and the canoe trip during our stay, both of which were excellent and very informative for us 'townies'. Saw our first black bear on... More

If you are travelling from Jasper to Whistler this is a lovely place to break the journey. We picked it mainly for its location and also for horse riding. You can pick various horse trails, either for beginners or riders. The horses are well trained and trustworthy and even though it rained for the whole 3 hours we still enjoyed... More

We stayed here for two weeks. These are beautifully located cabins, with kitchenette and fridge, clean with nice patio. Location is perfect for hikes in Wells Gray park. The only thing we did not like was the restaurant. Basically, you get no choice at all. On the first night, we hoped to get a 3-course meal from the choice menu... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
WESTERN HOSPITALITY ON A GUEST RANCH AT THE ENTRANCE TO BEAUTIFUL WELLS GRAY PARK Despite the rapid growth of its urban centers, much of Western Canada is still untamed frontier. One of those areas is the Wells Gray Park, 5200 sq. kilometer of protected wilderness in Central British Columbia. Bounded on the north and east by the Cariboo Mountains, and on the west by an upland plateau, the Wells Gray Park encompasses a broad spectrum of mountain scenery. The area is abundant in flora and fauna. Caribou, moose, black bear, beaver and wolf freely roam the park, and local streams are well stocked with trout. Horseback riding, fishing, mountain biking, river rafting, hiking and canoeing into the local wilderness are all part of the ranch's daily summer routine. In the winter the most popular activities are dog-sledding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and wildlife viewing. Your skilled guide will lead you to adventures on remote mountains, valleys and lakes in a setting as spectacular as it is challenging ... more   less
