My husband and I went on a romantic overnight get-away during a busy time teaching and performing in Montreal, in late winter. Our friends in the Montreal Symphony recommended La Sapiniere. This was just the place. YES- the room decor is dated, but we spent most of our time in the lovely old lodge, sipping drinks by the fire and... More

This is a relaxed inn with a fabulous dining room, a fine wine list - with private access to an adjoining public mountain forest nature preserve . If you are very sensitive to your room, as I am, the secret to this place is to find the rooms that overlook the lake and are a little larger - with two... More

We were travelling on bikes along the *petit train du nord* coming from Mt-Laurier. This hotel was situated at the other end of Val David away from the prettiest part of this small town where you had plenty of restaurants. As for the hotel it was a beautiful place a little tricky to get to from the trail. There was... More

I recently spent 6 nights at La Sapiniere for a workshop. The first three nights were in the spring; the second three in August. As you approach the hotel, you notice that the road and parking lot are covered in pot holes. Not a promising start. Starting with the positive: the location of La Sapiniere is beautiful. The lake is... More

I stayed at this hotel back in the late 1970s with fond memories of top dining under world renown chef Marcel Kretz. His student is the chef today.. The reviews you read here are too harsh. Yes, it is dated but very very friendly staff at the front desk and in the dining room. The rooms were clean and bright... More

went there las week-end for a wedding up-north. The only reason I'm giving it a 1 star is because i can't give it less. Dated for this hotel is not near the right word. They charged us 200$ for a night for this...I was insulted. I didn't even took my shoes out because I didn't want to walk on that... More

First I want to point out that the hotel is clean and the lake it sits on is beautiful. The location and the town is a very peaceful and quant. This is where my good review ends. The hotel, which was built in the 1930's has not been upgraded since the 70's. We stayed in the main building. When we... More

We like rustic places. We enjoyed the beautiful setting, and the rustic restaurant. We like to cross-country ski at nearby Parc Dufresne. The problem is the standard room, which are lower than a 2 star motel. Completely run-down, need painting and total refurbishment. Not so clean nor comfortable. We came here with a 50% Groupon coupon. Well, the deal wasn't... More

This grand hotel has a famous reputation to keep up. You can see how proud it was, in its time. It has a unique location, waterfront, on a sleepy street in a sleepy town. The circular driveway has a fun ice sculpture in the center of the round about and easy parking. Check in was friendly and efficient. Our room... More

Living in the town next to La Sapiniere, I have enjoyed the restaurant for close to 40 years. On December 30 th 2012, we reserved a table for four. First, I noticed that all the regular staff was nowhere to be seen. The first "part time" waiter, a student, was not familiar with the special winws promoted by the hotel.... More
