I just spent four days at Rock Island lodge. The staff were welcoming, food great, the setting absolutely stunning right on the shores of Lake Superior in a secluded setting. I was part of a photography workshop which was informative and I learn't a lot. Rock Island only has a few rooms, so you will not be overwhelmed with people.... More

And it is at the Rock Island Lodge in Wawa, Ontario! Right on the shores of Lake Superior. The rooms are painted to match the color of the water and the sky. The dining is communal. The folks there are interesting and interested. The food is wholesome and healthy, the vibe is low-key and confident, and the opportunity to see... More

My husband and I spent 4 nights in mid September at this delightful lodge. We had been informed that there would be a detour due to earlier flooding. This was no problem whatsoever as the detour was well signed by the lodge, and we had already travelled a good distance so another 15 or 20 minutes was no problem. Mostly... More

We stayed here for a small destination wedding. Although a bit of a trip on dirt roads from near Wawa, because a couple of bridges are presently out of commission, it's worth the drive. Staff were all super helpful, friendly and courteous. The food was delicious and very generous in quantity. The dining room has lovely views and is glassed... More

This was the last stop on our Circle Tour around Lake Superior, and we were so incredibly disappointed by this lodge. Several things went wrong: 1.) Because of some bridges out, the detour to get to this place was about 7 miles or 10 km of rough gravel roads... not exactly the "well maintained road" it was billed as and... More

We stayed there 2 nights and had an awesome time. The fellow guest were great too. The main we reason we stayed there was because they are pet friendly. Everything about the place, food, rooms, lodge were perfect. Hopefully we will be back next year.

We recently stayed here, only for one night (unfortunately!). We arrived quite late as we drove 10 hours to get to the area and the staff sitting in the kitchen was so great to us. One staff member showed us to our room and invited us to enjoy the outdoor deck. The views from the outdoor deck are spectacular. Inside,... More

We just returned from a ten day stay and words cannot fully describe our stellar and warmly memorable experience. Gorgeous setting right on the lake. Fabulous friendly staff. Adventure right out the door. Great food. And comfortable communal living room space for hanging out to chat with fellow travelers or to watch Lake Superior in all its varied moods (especially... I wish I could add more stars, this was by far the best place I have ever stayed. Not only is the place absolutely beautiful, the staff are terrific as well. We were treated so wonderfully by everyone and the food was great! They were so accommodating about everything and the kayaking trip was phenomenal. Words can really not describe... More

We stayed at the Rock Island Lodge for 3 nights with a group which included a small child. The beach was fantastic as were the views from the deck. The service and staff were fantastic. We had great group meals with some of the other guests which was fun. My only complaint would be that we ordered a fish dinner... More
