We broke a road trip across Canada by staying here for three days. Had no idea what to expect, but were blown away by the beautiful location, right on the shore of Lake Superior. It's quite a basic, dormitory style set-up, with only 4 rooms, and primarily aimed at outdoor lake activities. It was early in the season when we... More

In July 2013, the Mac ( McMaster University) girls from Brandon Hall got together for our annual good time at Rock Island Lodge. It was raining when we arrived from London, Hamilton, Mississauga and the Soo but that did not deter us from hiking from Silver Falls through a lovely peaceful forest. Our accommodation was shared with two gals in... More

On a recent camping trip to Ontario, we discovered we'd left our tent poles at home. We asked the nice folks at Naturally Superior Adventures/Rock Island Lodge if they could rent us a tent for a week. They did, for a very reasonable price, as well as a campsite at their rustic beach for the first night. It saved our... More

We just finished a photography workshop with James Smedley at the Rock Island Lodge which is situated on the north shores of Lake Superior. The views are stunning. The lodging and staff were wonderful and the food was delicious. We'll be back!

I just spent four days at Rock Island lodge. The staff were welcoming, food great, the setting absolutely stunning right on the shores of Lake Superior in a secluded setting. I was part of a photography workshop which was informative and I learn't a lot. Rock Island only has a few rooms, so you will not be overwhelmed with people.... More

And it is at the Rock Island Lodge in Wawa, Ontario! Right on the shores of Lake Superior. The rooms are painted to match the color of the water and the sky. The dining is communal. The folks there are interesting and interested. The food is wholesome and healthy, the vibe is low-key and confident, and the opportunity to see... More

My husband and I spent 4 nights in mid September at this delightful lodge. We had been informed that there would be a detour due to earlier flooding. This was no problem whatsoever as the detour was well signed by the lodge, and we had already travelled a good distance so another 15 or 20 minutes was no problem. Mostly... More

We stayed here for a small destination wedding. Although a bit of a trip on dirt roads from near Wawa, because a couple of bridges are presently out of commission, it's worth the drive. Staff were all super helpful, friendly and courteous. The food was delicious and very generous in quantity. The dining room has lovely views and is glassed... More

This was the last stop on our Circle Tour around Lake Superior, and we were so incredibly disappointed by this lodge. Several things went wrong: 1.) Because of some bridges out, the detour to get to this place was about 7 miles or 10 km of rough gravel roads... not exactly the "well maintained road" it was billed as and... More

We stayed there 2 nights and had an awesome time. The fellow guest were great too. The main we reason we stayed there was because they are pet friendly. Everything about the place, food, rooms, lodge were perfect. Hopefully we will be back next year.
