This is my second stay at the hotel(annual event) and the place is growing on me. Nothing flashy about the rooms but very suitable for a business trip. What really makes this place is the staff- friendly, helpful and pleasant. Front desk team always had a cheerful hello, and was quick to answer questions or lend a hand. Wifi was... More

We stayed here approx. 9am - 5pm on Feb 3rd 2015 when our plane had to divert to Gander on the way back to the UK from Jamaica due to a medical emergency. We had room 438 which was very good - the bathroom looked brand new, the bed was very comfy (slept for a couple of hours during the... More

If you like 20 year old beds and flat cushions .this is your place to stay.Friendly staff. However this hotel is in dire need of some basic upgrades to make the stay sleep friendly..I hope tourists don't base their experience

This hotel welcomed our tour with cookies and a soft drink, which was nice. They even had our name on the sign outside the hotel's entrance, also a nice touch. The staff seemed pleasant enough, but the rooms need to be updated. Because the rooms looked old, they also had the appearance of being dirty. The casing around the window... More

We stayed at this hotel in our way across the island for one night. The hotel advertises an indoor heated pool but it is by no means heated, it advertises free wifi but we were unable to connect even after calling the front desk and 1800 number that was provided. The rooms are very dated and there was a huge... More

When I was a child, I remember staying at the Hotel Gander several times and always marvelled at how fancy it was. Oh how the mighty have fallen... We stayed in the hotel during the weekend of a swim meet which was being held in Gander so availability was very limited. It took SIX phone calls to determine if a... More

The check in was quick and friendly, and once I received my room KEY ( an actual metal key! ) I knew that things were going to be interesting. The hotel is showing it's age for sure. The last time I visited this hotel was in the late 1980's and though the lobby decor may have changed I do not... More

We had late lunch here on the way to Twillingate. Our server was great, fun, helpful, loads of personality. We both ordered the chicken warp and small Greek salad which came with the meal. Both were Very good. Lots of chicken in the wrap and the sauce was oh so yummy. We didn't have to wait long before the food... More

Badly in need of a face lift. Circa 1980s cracked sink. Carpet has not been cleaned since then. On the upside, staff is friendly. But...This place is seriously overpriced for what you get. Smoky lobby. Sadly not much choice in Gander. Stay elsewhere if you can. Harley drag races in the parking lot if you don't need to sleep.

Eight of us stayed here on our way from one side of Newfoundland to the other. We were tired by the time we arrived, having driven from Rocky Harbour in Gross Morne park. We were so happy to find that they had a pool that was open. The kids had a wonderful time and we were able to swim both... More
