Food in their restaurant is great. Good portions, good prices. Great place for a convenient stop over. Was there on business. The meeting rooms were adequate. The service was great. It's an older hotel, and can be a bit of a maze. Once you figure it out, your're fine. Great breakfast deals

I've tried out most of the hotels in Gander trying to find which one is the best, understanding there are no 4 or 5 star hotels in the town. Most of the hotels are pretty equal, where one might be a little stronger, another one has a different strength. I've come to the conclusion that the Albatross is my favorite... More

I go to many places for breakfast/brunch - the albatross almost got it bang on. The fact that you can get a touton is a bonus; the potatoes are great - real potato for a hashbrown is a must. The only thing that could be brought up to speed - homemade bread (even breadbox/Rosies bread will work) - the goose... More

Thank-you for your restaurant review, and we are glad that you enjoyed your breakfast with us. We are currently looking in to the possibility of using home made bread for our breakfasts too. Hope to have you back again soon. -Ruby More

Reasonable property with some recent renovations, but not in the room I had. Very quiet. I did not hear another soul the three nights I was there. Good bed. Clean bathroom. I found a blanket in the closet which I used instead of the duvet (which I find too hot). Every time I came back the maid had re-made the... More

Very old hotel, old carpet, old building that has no character. I wouldn't waste my time staying here if you have alternatives. Clock was impossible to set! Bed was clean and comfortable enough but small! Heat wasn't on in the room upon entry and the room was cold. There is a bar and a resturant on location. Free wifi and... More

The staff on the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is pretty outdated but I've definitely been in worse. The location is very convenient as it's right off of the highway. The room was pretty cozy, although needs updating. The heat was hard to control, either too hot or too cold - I couldn't get a nice... More

I would call this place a dump, but I happen to enjoy a good dump from time to time. I don't even think a facelift would help this baby. It's time to put the poor Albatross out of its misery. It's suffered long enough. Call in the wrecking ball. Not one thing in the room was worth salvaging. I have... More

It's Unfortunate that you did not enjoy your accommodations here at the Albatross. Some of the renovations that we have had just this year are new televisions, mattresses, and new linen and drapery. The majority of our carpeting is also less than 5 years old. I do understand that our furniture, although in good condition, is old and lacks the... More

We stayed enroute to Fogo Island. While an older facility, this hotel has been extensively upgraded. Our room was very clean, and linens and bed were quite comfortable. Bathroom is still old, albeit fine. I would stay again if passing through central Newfoundland. I thought the $129 + tax a bit too high, although perhaps this is the marketplace price.... More

Not having stayed at The Albatross for over 20 years, based on the age of the property we had lowered expectations. They were very wrong. The hotel common areas and rooms (we were a group of three couples), were all up to date, clean and fully up to date. The rooms were very clean, well appointed and comfortable. It was... More

While on a tour of Newfoundland and Labrador, a member of our group became ill and was admitted to hospital in Gander. We reserved rooms at the Albatross Inn, and were thankful we did. Although this is an older hotel, the rooms are clean and comfortable and we received five star customer service during our stay. The desk clerks Kathy... More
