We stayed here on a Tucan travel tour and it was one of the nicest hotels on the tour.It is quite a distance from the nearest town, but as there isn't much there anyway,we were quite happy to stay in the hotel. We had a very big room which looked on to the garden and a tree where there were lots of... Before you tire of chicken with red beans, rice, and cole slaw while in Belize, you MUST have some at the Aguada. Their food is AMAZING, especially this dish, the Spanish eggs, tortillas, and French toast. The outdoor dining area, courtyard, and pool are lovely and the rooms are quaint. In all, it was a good choice for the cost... More

A pretty undiscovered and little advertised hotel in Santa Elena, with friendly staff, great food at the hotel and a nice pool to dip and relax after sight seeing, doing tours or simply to hang out. Nice rooms, relaxed atmosphere. The ice coffee was the best we had this trip and the wonderful lady turned on the whole valentine lighting... More

The Aguada is the San Ignacio hotel used by Tucan Tours but it is actually in nearby Santa Elena. It is located in a nearly rural location near a busy road. It is a bit tired but still I thought it was fine. We had Room 14 upstairs over the pool in the original block. It was clean and the... More

The rooms do not have any glass in the windows, some have shutters and some have just a wire mesh netting. The noise from outside is deafening! A combination of the cockerels, birds, barking dogs and swimming pool pumps does not make for a pleasant nights stay! The rooms are very basic but the pool area and lake are beautiful.... More

Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. All of our rooms including the one you stayed in have glass windows. Maybe the window was extremely cleaned that you didn't realize it was there. There are sliding glass in some rooms while glass louvers in other rooms. All the rooms have screens for bug control. We are surrounded by many... More

We stayed here for 4 nights while visiting the Cayo district. The room was very clean and we got fresh clean towels everyday. This was a good hotel for us as they have a small playground for the kids and the pool was big enough for them to go in without us and not have to worry. It is centrally... More

We stayed here for four nights while exploring the Cayo area. There are two bright spots to our visit, Julie and the young man that turned on the coffee early one morning. This hotel is older which is fine, but a little bit of maintenance would go a long way in improving aesthetics. The pool is clean, but very small... More

Thank you for your sharing your comments with us. The hotel is located in the center of the twin town of Santa Elena and at times you will hear the local sounds of living in a third world country which includes animals and so forth. Our local government has laws pertaining to noise and unfortunately loud music can be played... More

Stayed here for 2 night as part of a Tucan tour. It's a nice hotel, staff were really nice. We had breakfast one morning which was very good- French toast and bacon. We had dinner in the hotel one day and it was good too. The rooms upstairs are apparently much nicer and bigger. We had a room downstairs not... More

We stayed three nights and one night we woke to pounding on the door - Security had seen us earlier, remembered our room number and he came knocking. We had unknowingly left the back window down on our rental car, it was raining, and it was 1 am! There are so many things that could have gone wrong and we... More

Went here for a meeting of Ex-Pats for lunch and Christmas party. Unexpectedly beautiful place. Great food. We had the beer battered shrimp, Whole Snapper, BLT, nachos, and hamburgers for the kids. By far the best was the snapper. Excellent prices. Delicious home-cooked food. A little off the beaten path, but Well worth finding. The outdoor patio is surrounded by... More
