Older look on the outside, but very nice on the inside.Updated; fridge and microwave in each unit, and some kitchens. We had 2 units because my son and his wife were with us, and both rooms were clean and comfortable.I loved the laminate floors, because I always wonder what's been spilled on carpeted motel floors, and how often they are cleaned.This... Clean enough. Linens washed without softener with is a HUGE plus, imo, as the towels are more absorbent. Staff seemed attentive, friendly and available during my three day stay February 2015. Of the three days I was there I wanted housekeeping to do a thorough in-house guest tidy - it was done during the eight hours I was departed. EXHAUST... More

we spent summer vacation (one month) at the river height motel and enjoyed very much to stay at this motel because all staffs are very friendly, cozy, convenient for everything such as river side walking, shopping etc. therefore we highly recommend this motel for some one who want to spend your summer vacation without spending big money.

It is everything you would expect out of a very cheap motel. Most people staying there are workers so be prepared to be woken up at 5:00AM.... When we first arrived our window wouldn't lock...there was a stick in the window to keep it locked. The stick was too short, so we waited while he quickly "sawed" us another. Very... More

we spent 3 nights at this motel while visiting in the area. The motel was very clean and had everything we needed,it was in the centre of town, close to everything but was very quiet! The owners were very nice and we got the room for a great rate!

We came to Courtenay for a family gathering. We booked a fortnight in advance and weren't asked if we wanted non or smoking rooms. Because of this, we got stuck with a smoking room. We got $30 off the room. The room reeked of stale smoke. Interesting because the door had a No Smoking sign on it. The property was... More

We had checked in and were smoking outside some distance from the room and apparently according to the female at the desk we were smoking inside the room. You could tell right away that they were only interested in not returning my 50 dollar deposit and were looking for any flimsy reason they could find to not return it. My... More

My spouse selected this property primarily for its proximity to Strathcona Provincial Park where we hiked, its Trip Advisor reviews, and lower cost relative to some competing hotels nearby. Canadian prices for many things are generally higher than many US regions for many things even allowing for the Canadian dollar being worth ca. 7-8% less than the American (mid-August 2014),... We booked this hotel based on some of these reviews, but never again. I will admit it was clean, however way too expensive. We had a 2 room suite. Windows had no screens, and the weather was really hot. I turned the air conditioner on and when I got back the manager came out to say we must have forgot... More

From the outisde the River Heights Motel looks like a place you wouldn't want to stay at. The buildings look old and slightly run down. The rooms surprise though. Clean and reasonably well appointed for a motel in this price range. Beds are comfortable - always a big plus and fairly close to amenities like restaurants and groceries. The price... More
