I was fortunate enough to reside here during a 3 week volunteer trip and I completely agree with the sentiments expressed by Silja. I've stayed at many luxury hotels, but here at Cona Hostel they have the most accommodating employees that I have ever come across. I cannot thank you enough for making my first hostel experience a positive one.

Cona Hostel is the place to stay in Courtenay! It's got everything! The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are always clean, the kitchen is well equipped, the common room is cosy and the patio overlooking the river is so lovely, it will take you effort to actually leave it to go see one of the many breathtaking things around the... I've not stayed in a lot of hostels, at least not in the past few years, but I was very impressed with this one. The rooms are very clean and we had a private room with a lovely view over the river. Yes, it was a bit noisy on one of the nights, but that was from a party down... More

My stay here was a bit of a mixed bag. The place is bright, spacious and in a great location by the river. The bathrooms were spotlessly clean and modern, a real bonus for a hostel. The facilities were great. The beds however were very uncomfortable (I'm not a princess, I've stayed in many, many hostels but this was pretty... More

This hostel is probably the best hostel I ever stayed in during my hitchhiking travels around America & Canada! Everything was superb from the neat rooms to the great organization and the very friendly staff.

The Cona is a very clean, friendly and well located hostel on the edge of downtown Courtney, overlooking the meandering Puntledge River. Lucy at the desk was very welcoming and helpful. The hostel has a large, fully stocked kitchen and open common area with tv, DVDs, foos ball table, books, etc. It seemed pretty empty, only saw a couple of... More

for an ocd germaphobe backpacker, Im kind of hard to please but Cona did just that. Everything is super clean, fresh & bright. We stayed is the large dorm at the top of the outdoor stairs with the slidi.g patio door. All the beds were clean.. no beat up bed frames/hole filled sheets/mystery boogers on the walls. We had our... More

Spent a night at the Cona Hostel in Courtenay since it was a convenient place to stay while we were in town to catch a show at the nearby Sid Williams Theater. It was as clean as you could ask for, and the staff was welcoming and attentive. I found the concrete floor in the kitchen/common area to be uncomfortable,... More

This was our third trip to Courtenay, BC where we stayed at The Cona Hostel. Perfectly situated for families visiting with or without a car...a couple of minutes from the main shopping street, coffee shops, parks, indoor skateboard park, tennis courts, kayak rentals, and it hangs (literally) over the river by the 5th Street Bridge. Shuttle will take you to... More

Had 2 nights at the Cona Hostel in Courtenay. Originally we had planned on camping but left it too late to book a spot over the long weekend, we found this place as an alternative. The location was pretty good right along side the river overlooking a park, walking distance to pubs, cafes and grocery store all pretty much on... More
