We went skiing at Kicking Horse Mountain and booked a one of the chalets for our stay near Golden. While the chalets are still a bit of a drive (30 - 40 minutes) from Golden or the ski hill they were a great value. There was sleeping enough for 6 with a double and 2 singles in the loft and... Our family stayed four nights at the kicking horse river chalets and had a great time! These chalets are a little off the path so you can really enjoy the area. The chalet was bigger than we expected and had all the basic necessities. Jack met us in the parking area and showed us around, gave us the "bear test",... More

We recently spent two wonderful nights at the fantastic Kicking Horse River Chalets just east of Golden, BC, and minutes from Yoho National Park. Beautiful log chalets in a wonderful setting close to the Kicking Horse River. We live in Canmore, AB, but had family from Florida with us. My daughter said it was "heaven on Earth". I think that... Six of us stayed in one of the chalets for two nights for $199 with a Living Social deal. The setting is absolutely gorgeous and the chalets themselves are reasonably clean and well-equipped. It is a little difficult to find coming off the highway as there are no signs (you have to follow the "Chancellor Peak Chalets" signs...more on that... More

B.C.guide, Manager at Kicking Horse River Chalets, responded to this review

Dear Lindsay 71 Thank you for your review of Kicking Horse River Chalets. I would like to clear up a few inconsistencies in your review however. KHRC is what is known as a strata property very much like what you find in many resort communities, especially Whistler. Each chalet is individually owned by an investor. Management companies represent the owners;... More

What a find! As a family of five travelling through the Rockies our chalet was a fantastic base for trips into Yoho park. Even better was the tremendous help given by Wade, the manager. He didn't intrude, but was ready to help, evem when some Canadian cousins appeared at his door looking for us long after we had gone to... More

This is a hidden gem located just outside of Yoho National Park. It is about 15 minutes from Field, BC and about 20 minutes from Golden, BC. These chalets are about a 2 minute walk to the Kicking Horse River and are surrounded with the Canadian Rocky Mountains - breathtaking. The chalets themselves are great for families - sleeps up... My husband and I recently traveled to the Canadian Rockies with my parents and my sister. We were looking for accomodations that could sleep five people comfortably where we could all be together. The Kicking Horse River Chalets were perfect! The chalets themselves are cute little log cabins right on the Kicking Horse River. Ours could have slept 6 comfortably.... More

Our family of 5 stayed here for 4 nights in July 2005. The best thing going for these chalets is location - it's in good vicinity of 5 National Parks. The worst thing is also location - it's only 25 minutes from Golden if you need groceries or supplies, but the highway to/from is under major construction. We waited for... More

This is the second time I have stayed at these chalets. In May we spent one night there to see what they were like as we were bringing visitors from England to the area. They seemed fine at that time so we arrived on Friday July 15 for a 3 night stay. We reserved two chalets at a cost of... More
