Conveniently and centrally located on the main high street, the hotel has clean, functional rooms that provides a comfortable stay. The water pressure and temperatures in the bathroom competently delivers. The lighting and bedding linen in the room are also simple and elegant. The wifi is free, and the signal is strong and consistent. Last but not least, the staff... More

The Mountain Hound is located with in walking distance to many restaurants. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. It was the off season, so they were not super busy, but the walls are thin, so you can clearly hear your neighbors. Continental breakfast was minimal but they did have coffee, fruit, muffins and juice. The front desk... More

We arrived in the Mountain Hound with my spuse having flu with high fever. In a flash our room had been changed to a more quiet one (not facing the street), he was brought more blankets and the function of the thermostat had been explained. During the stay the staff was extremely helpful. No it's not The Hume, but neither... More

My only negative comment would be about the town itself. They should be more tourist friendly by letting you park longer than an hour with the parking meters! We were with 2 dogs and it was very dog friendly. My husband stated the walls looked like a dorm room (painted brick) the rooms are minimalist but clean. Hot water plentiful... More

We stay here every time we go to Nelson. It is simple, clean, friendly accommodation in a fantastic location. It is right on Baker Street so it is perfect. The value for money here is second to none. We usually stay here once a year.

We stayed here on the weekend and weren't sure what to expect as the reviews were hit and miss. I honestly can't complain too much, the bed was very comfy and the room was just what we needed. It is a ski hotel so the noise of ski boots up and down the halls all morning was a little frustrating... More

It's a well-kept 2 star hotel. The beds are comfortable but small (doubles instead of queen size, I think). Linens are comfy. Yes, you have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to your room. There IS a plug in the bathroom. Look up! It felt safe and secure, and was clean and quiet. Everything needed for an... More

I stayed here during a bike tour of the Selkirk Loop and the Mountain Hound Inn was perfect. We got a room at the end of the hallway and had a nice view of the water. Beds were very comfortable and towels soft. The bathroom was small, no outlet, but the shower was fine. We were able to store our... More

Staff was very nice and informative. Good location, right in the city centre surrounded by heritage buildings. Tourist office and a very scenic waterfront park nearby. The complimentary breakfast was not appealing, we went to a local bakery for our breakfast instead. The hotel is in a small old building on a busy street with no elevator. Small and old... More

We stayed here for two nights recently and were very disappointed. We had originally booked three nights but left a day early - would have left after one night except for the 48 hour cancellation policy. ( All the other places we stayed at during this trip had a 24 hour policy!) The room is very small, the walls are... More
