based on TripAdvisor reviews, we stayed at the Blaylock Mansion. It was a little pricier, but hey one has to splurge once in a while! It’s an amazing old English style mansion (16,000 sq. ft.) located a few miles out of town, built 80 years ago by one of the bosses at the Cominco Mine in Trail. It has a... More

I have just returned having spent three days in Nelson BC. One of the best decisions we made was to stay with Dan and Lousie McGauley at the unique and gracious country estate The Blaylock Mansion. From the antique-filled bedroom with original heavy bronze window locks, to watching the late afternoon sun slip behind the lakeside mountains while enjoying a... More

Absolutely beautifully restored and maintained mansion with grounds in the gorgeous Nelson environs. All internal areas of the mansion that we accessed were spotlessly clean, the hosts Dan & Louise were friendly, welcoming and willing to share their wealth of local knowledge. The rooms were very nice & comfortable and the ensuite was well appointed. The only down side to... More

The Blaylock Mansion was a fascination for me during my childhood growing up in the Kootenays. My aunt worked as a house cleaner at some point in the early 60's for the widowed Mrs.Blaylock.Now living in the hustle and bustle of Vancouver,I was looking forward to re visting the Nelson area and staying at this mansion, with a room with a... My wife and I came for a wedding. The views were spectacular and the grounds were perfect for the wedding. There are so many places to take great photos that it is crazy. The inside of the mansion is wonderfully interesting and the catering of the wedding itself was outstanding. It is a great place.

Stayed at the Blaylock with my family with three young kids: ages 8,6, and 4 Everyone had a great time at the pool and touring through the grounds. The lake is amazing, with no real boat traffic and a few nice sandbars to lounge on if you can get out there by boat. The grounds are immaculate and are a... More

My husband and I were looking for the perfect place to host our family for the weekend of our wedding. All 24 of us (children as young as 2 and adults into their 70's) stayed at the estate for the weekend. Everything was ready for us when we arrived - Rob ensured the grounds were in tip top shape for... More

We found our room luxurious and a quiet place to spoil ourselves. The grounds where a joy to explore, the breakfast was delicious. The caretakers are very knowledgeable about the history and friendly. We are definitely going back.

We chose this place because of the pool. My wife loves a daily swim and it's not often you find a pool you can do lengths in. The pool is cold - great for laps, not so great for lounging. The hotel was once a residence and the rooms feel homey like you're staying with your grandparents. The hosts are... More

What a place to stay. they have everything from tennis courts to an olympic size pool, from spa to historical gardens. We had a lovely room with a view of the lake. Breakfast was wonderful with your choice of feral, you gut, fresh fruit, scones, and quiche. The rooms are full of history from reading articles to pictures. the mansion... More
