We never thought to stay at a Hostel until faced with some over priced low season rates at the local hotels and motels. Booked in for 1 night and ended up staying 4. Fun and friendly staff. Very comfy and roomy common area on the main floor with fireplace. Lots of bathrooms and showers and a great commercial kitchen on... More

This hostel is beautifully decorated and very clean. There are lots of bathroom facilities available, and there was also a sink in our private room which I found to be a great addition. The beds were comfortable with nice warm blankets which is a rarity in hostels! It was quite windy the night that we stayed and the wind was... More

I went here for a work ski trip, with a bunch of rowdy skiers and snowboarders. We practically took over the whole hostel and stayed there 3 nights. Leaving our cans and pizza boxes everywhere we set put to ski and can back to a clean beautiful place to stay!! They were very friendly and helpful. Especially patient with us... More

This charming and cozy little hostel on the far end of Nelson's main street is an ideal place to spend a few days summer or winter. I came up here to do some skiing and was just as pleased with the Dancing Bear as I was with WH20. Great town, great people and really great restaurants. The rooms where quite... More

I come in from my place outside town by bus to enjoy a movie night or event in Nelson once or twice a month. I walk in the front door and it's like my living room with benefits; instant, interesting people from all over the world, great accommodations in the dorm, clear and well-kept ground rules for respecting everyone, cleanliness,... Even left us all Xmas stockings this a.m. Nice clean kitchen, well-supplied, lovely gas fireplace to hang out by in living room, friendly helpful staff, right in downtown Nelson. Small place, so not too many people around, good for families, couples, singles, friends, etc.

My friend and I arrived in Nelson in late October to set up home for the winter, and stayed at the Dancing Bear Inn for our first two nights before finding a place to live. Having stayed in HI hostels before, I expected good standards, but was pleasantly surprised to find that the standards here were the best I've come... More

I arrived in Nelson and the first hostel I could clearly see was the Dancing Bear, directly on the main strip, you are minutes away walking distance from everything you need. If your looking for hikes and beautiful scenery the area has everything to offer. The staff was incredibly friendly and helped me with any questions I had. The hostel... More

Inviting and warm, nice wooden interior. The girl at the reception wasn't too cheery though, nor friendly or helpful. Our private room was small but clean. Kitchen was very very clean. Overall good experience. Sleep was awful because of the baby crying across the hallway, but it seemed a rare occasion to me that is unlikely to reoccur. On a... More

There was no one at the front desk or anywhere to be found in the hostel at our 10oclk check out to return our 100$ deposit that we were required to give because we didn't have a credit card. This was frustrating, as we had places to be. Otherwise, our stay was great! It was clean, and very comfortable.
