The front desk staff were great....the halls were clean and quiet. The rooms were ok. They could stand to be cleaned way better then they are. I dropped something on the floor and had to crawl around to find it - there were toe nail clippings under the computer desk (neither of us had trimmed our toenails.) Along side the... More

Not impressive. Room was clean but beds poorly made - made us wonder if sheets had actually been replaced. Room was very cramped. Lots of wear and tear...carpet quite stained etc. Meeting room (Raven) was brutal. Water-stained and very smelly.

I stayed for two nights while in town for work. Based on reviews from others, it sounds as though my room at least has been updated a bit with new duvets (not those hideous maroon/green/dark covers from decades back) and more artsy black and white nature photos...although it was the same print over each of the two beds. The sink... More

Stayed here 2 nights while in town for work. Had a 2-double bed room. The fridge was nice to have. The king rooms that my colleagues had seemed to have a microwave which I didn't have. The room was clean and adequate. The beds nice and firm. The bathroom is really awkward. The sink is on the outside of the... More

There is nothing really wrong with the hotel. But nothing really great. It could really use a bit of updating - carpets are worn, wallpaper dated, bathrooms clean, but showing their years. Front desk service was okay, but not overly helpful. Rather than call a cab - handed me a post-it note with the phone number. No elevator, and travelling... More

The Sandman is past its "best by date". The room was dark. It was on the ground floor looking at the parked vehicles. The room amenities were OK and it was clean. The food option was to go to Denny's (no thanks!). The only advantage is that it is easy to find.

The Sandman is easy to locate on Hwy 16 with ample parking. Check-in was slow in spite of BC Ferries having made the reservation several months earlier. Then our room was not as per the reservation. After a bit of a fuss another room was allotted. It was functional and rather unattractive, but everything worked and the bathroom soap and... More

I find all Sandman Inn's to be dated. So, when people say the hotel is old - it doesn't surprise me in the least. The standard decor at all of these places of maroon and forest green just don't make for a modern feel as is. The thing that I was NOT a fan of was the smoke. I am... More

This hotel is super old and very basic. The nicest part of my room was the soap. My room looked out onto a cement roof with piles of dirt on it and there was dead moths in the window sill. To their credit, my room was clean and I felt comfortable enough to stay but the carpet had burn marks... More

The rooms back in the day were pretty much the best in the area, and truth be known, are probably still the best around, but they are in need of upgrade. The staff is friendly, the restaurant (Denny's) has good food, and the location is good. Time to update though as the rooms smell musty and the decor is getting... More
