Had reservations at the Best Western Sword in Bancroft. When we arrived the front desk service was terrible and our room was TINY for the $189 they were charging. Despite being told that they were the only motel in town, we soon found a much better place on the north end of town, across from Canadian Tire. Rates were much... more

This motel is in the middle of nowhere and priced accordingly, expensive for what you get. It has a swimming pool which we did not want, and a restaurant which was not inviting, so as for most travellers to this area it was simply a place to sleep overnight. Our room was reasonably spacious with everything you would expect from... more

"Ok" rooms, average meals, clean but nothing special for the price. We stayed 3 nights to visit family and paid the same for this basic accomodation in Bancroft as we did for the presidential luxury room in Niagara falls with great view and all you can eat breakfast . So whilst it may be the best / only hotel in... more

This place is a joke! The room is TINY, the bathroom has a 2' x 2' sink/counter so you can hardly keep your toothbrush on it, the air conditioners are window units from the 70's, the pool area is aweful, the "games room" has a coin operated pool table and a checker board with no pieces, the restaurant smells damp,... more

We stopped for lunch at Bancroft Inn a number of years ago while traveling through north-central Ontario. As soon as we entered the lobby, we noticed an unpleasant dank aroma and we promised ourselves never to return. We remembered and joked about the "dead body" smell while passing through Bancroft yesterday, and we were hardly surprised to see that Bancroft... more

We were travelling through to Ottawa a decided to stay a couple of days in Bancroft to visit family. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here, from the indoor pool and facilities to enjoying our meals in the dining room. Staff were friendly and helpful directing us to the surrounding sights and quaint gift shops. We will definitely be staying there... more

The Sword Motor Inn has been in the hands of the same family for two generations, but of course has only been a BestWestern for a few years. So the hotel has retained a lot of the characteristics of the "north of seven" "upscale" motel (for instance a reading room and a games room, complete with billiards, shuffleboard and chessboard)... more

The front desk help in the evening was very rude and snotty. The pool area had too many rules.(you cannot play with your child in the water) This hotel does not like children as I stayed there for two nights I wanted to leave after the first night. The rooms are VERY small and they even have to put the... more

The rooms are very tiny in this place. We had a "suite", as that was all they had available. The suite was 2 tiny rooms turned into 1 room. To do this, they removed a bathroom in the room now used as a bedroom, and simply placed a piece of mismatched carpet over the hole in the carpet where the... more

We've stayed here a few times and have always been satisfied. It's nothing fancy but there's a nice little bar/restaurant as well as a games room which is small but fun for the kids as it has shuffleboard. Location is great for strolling around the lovely town of Bancroft. more
