I stayed at this motel in July 2014 for 2 nights. It is clean and everything worked in the rooms I stayed in. I took the train to Moosonee and left my car at the motel. No safety issues. Barb the new owner is quite helpful and sure makes you feel welcome.

Considering you are paying a budget price don't expect the Royal York. The motel is not pretending to be a "Best Western", but for the cost difference a couple can go out for a very nice dinner including a drink. You should also remember that you are approaching the far north of Ontario and things generally are a lot simpler.... More

This motel is VERY VERY CLEAN. I work as a home cleaner and there wasn't a single thing missed. It was beautiful. So clean! And nice sheets :) I recently stayed at the Commando Motel. I came in exhausted and wretched from the long drive and stress etc. I had only planned to stay one night and Barbara (the owner... More

My handicapped sister and myself stayed with Barbara Crouch and the Commando Motel for 4 nights during our visit to the area. We travelled on the Polar Bear Express and stayed in Moosonee for the only other night. To me, a business reflects it's owner...I highly recommend the Commando Motel to anyone seeking a warm, comfortable, clean, quiet, and organized... More

Memo to “TRIPADVISOR” Monday November 25, 2013 When I am travelling and need a place to stay while away from home, I look for accommodation that meets these criteria: 1. Safe 2. Clean 3. Affordable, and 4 Conveniently located. The first three criteria should be self explanatory. The fourth one refers to location relative to the activities I intend to... More

We booked a room by visiting the motel in person as we needed a room on arrival at Cochrane on our way back from Moosoone from train. The motel owner confirmed the reservation and took the credit card details. On the day of arrival at the Motel, the manager had simply disappeared. She was not available at her office and... More

I was travelling to Toronto and since I had I stayed at this property two years ago upon the suggestion of a friend (not to be confused with a recommendation) I figured I would visit it again. Two years ago the motel was old but not unpleasant and was pretty much what I expected for the price, especially at a... More

Like other reviewers we were staying in this motel on our way to Moosonee. When rating this motel, one has to consider the following: 1) Cochrane is in the middle of nowhere (no offence), it is a small town which cannot be compared to Toronto or New York in terms of accomodations offered. 2) Most people do not stay long... My sister and I stayed in this motel a week ago. I found it online and from the reviews and photos it looked like just what we were looking for...inexpensive, clean and close to train station. When we arrived there were 4 dubious looking characters drinking beer at a picnic table on front lawn.....one got up and proceeded to urinate... More
