I grew up in kw and remember going to many parties or weddings in the ballrooms as a kid. The hotel has spent a lot of money over the past couple of years to bring back the magic and grandeur it once held. The rooms are well decorated and clean. The staff is always pleasant and helpful during our many... More

We have patronized the Walper for a number of years while attending the Bluesfests in August each year. We found them to be a very convenient, classy old hotel with reasonable prices. we stayed in the suites which weren’t perfect, but suited our needs....That is, until they changed hands. Last year we stayed there again under the new ownership and... More

This reservation was made by my employer. What a pleasant surprise! This 125 year old hotel exudes the grace and charm of a bygone era, yet with today's amenities and comfort. Upon entering mo third floor room, I found a flat screen tv, good wifi, and a spacious room with a comfortable king bed and large white-tiled bathroom. Everything was... More

I have stayed at the Walper at various times over the last 14 years. It came under new ownership in January, and there are several changes underway. Everything is improving, including the rooms and the breakfast area. The Rum Runner Pub is being turned into a bistro.

The Walper is under new ownership and the staff are all great and my stay was perfect! The pub in the basement is closed for renos until January 2015 sometime was the only disappointing thing if I had to pick something. Keep up the good work!

The Walper is at the brink of a full-scale restoration. I was fortunate enough to meet Domini Baldasaro, GM of the property. She is extremely enthusiastic about the direction that the owners of the Walper are taking with the property, and I am excited to see what the future has in store for this hotel. Now, for my review. Stayed here one night and overall it was awful. Water pressure in shower so low we couldn't shower and tap wasn't working properly. Loudest flushing toilet on the planet. Sounded like Niagara Falls emptying every time. There was a large pipe behind the bathroom door that in order to open the door wide enough to walk through, the door would... More

Great value hotel steeped in Canadian history. Comfortable rooms in a hotel with an abundance of reminders of hotels from years gone by. Staff was friendly and very helpful with suggestions for nearby restaurants.

There are some positive points: - The staff is friendly - The decor is old but it has charm - The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Kitchener - The room is reasonably clean Unfortunately, many negative points too: - The soundproofing is very bad. Our room overlooking King Street is extremely noisy. We heard both the noise... More

This place is a treasure! We stayed for 6 nights in October, and all the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Reasonably priced; very comfortable, quiet, safe, and clean. Parking is extra, but reasonable. An a la carte breakfast is included and is served in an elegant dining room (with white linen table cloths and napkins); Nice! The Walper is... More
