We stayed at the Walper at the last minute after an emergency stranded us in Kitchener for 2 nights in May 2014. They offered us a good rate late at night over the telephone, and so we took a taxi and checked in, and didn't leave our room for 2 nights. The 2 double beds were extremely comfortable with great... This reservation was made by my employer. What a pleasant surprise! This 125 year old hotel exudes the grace and charm of a bygone era, yet with today's amenities and comfort. Upon entering mo third floor room, I found a flat screen tv, good wifi, and a spacious room with a comfortable king bed and large white-tiled bathroom. Everything was... More

I have stayed at the Walper at various times over the last 14 years. It came under new ownership in January, and there are several changes underway. Everything is improving, including the rooms and the breakfast area. The Rum Runner Pub is being turned into a bistro.

The Walper is under new ownership and the staff are all great and my stay was perfect! The pub in the basement is closed for renos until January 2015 sometime was the only disappointing thing if I had to pick something. Keep up the good work!

The Walper is at the brink of a full-scale restoration. I was fortunate enough to meet Domini Baldasaro, GM of the property. She is extremely enthusiastic about the direction that the owners of the Walper are taking with the property, and I am excited to see what the future has in store for this hotel. Now, for my review. The... More

Stayed here one night and overall it was awful. Water pressure in shower so low we couldn't shower and tap wasn't working properly. Loudest flushing toilet on the planet. Sounded like Niagara Falls emptying every time. There was a large pipe behind the bathroom door that in order to open the door wide enough to walk through, the door would... More

Great value hotel steeped in Canadian history. Comfortable rooms in a hotel with an abundance of reminders of hotels from years gone by. Staff was friendly and very helpful with suggestions for nearby restaurants.

There are some positive points: - The staff is friendly - The decor is old but it has charm - The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Kitchener - The room is reasonably clean Unfortunately, many negative points too: - The soundproofing is very bad. Our room overlooking King Street is extremely noisy. We heard both the noise... More

This place is a treasure! We stayed for 6 nights in October, and all the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Reasonably priced; very comfortable, quiet, safe, and clean. Parking is extra, but reasonable. An a la carte breakfast is included and is served in an elegant dining room (with white linen table cloths and napkins); Nice! The Walper is... More

I realize that this is an older hotel but there could have been more updates. The room was ok but it had an odd layout with two double beds and a smallish bathroom. It was clean enough but overall nothing special. The real drawback is that there is no parking and the municipal lot around the corner costs $14.50 for... More

Dear Don_Kovacs, Thank you for sharing your experience at The Walper Hotel. Due to the age and design of the building, each room is unique and so no two rooms are identical, however we look forward to undergoing extensive renovations in the new year, allowing us to unveil a fresh new product and layout.
