Great value hotel steeped in Canadian history. Comfortable rooms in a hotel with an abundance of reminders of hotels from years gone by. Staff was friendly and very helpful with suggestions for nearby restaurants.

There are some positive points: - The staff is friendly - The decor is old but it has charm - The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Kitchener - The room is reasonably clean Unfortunately, many negative points too: - The soundproofing is very bad. Our room overlooking King Street is extremely noisy. We heard both the noise... More

This place is a treasure! We stayed for 6 nights in October, and all the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Reasonably priced; very comfortable, quiet, safe, and clean. Parking is extra, but reasonable. An a la carte breakfast is included and is served in an elegant dining room (with white linen table cloths and napkins); Nice! The Walper is... More

I realize that this is an older hotel but there could have been more updates. The room was ok but it had an odd layout with two double beds and a smallish bathroom. It was clean enough but overall nothing special. The real drawback is that there is no parking and the municipal lot around the corner costs $14.50 for... More

Dear Don_Kovacs, Thank you for sharing your experience at The Walper Hotel. Due to the age and design of the building, each room is unique and so no two rooms are identical, however we look forward to undergoing extensive renovations in the new year, allowing us to unveil a fresh new product and layout. Located at the heart of downtown,... More

Front the time we made the phone reservation until the time we left, everything was absolutely perfect! The staff were were helpful and friendly. The rooms were nice and clean and quiet as well. Walper Hotel was nice with clean rooms, comfortable and clean bed. Good location in downtown Kitchener, and a very nice buffet breakfast. The only thing I would complain is not having a safe box in the room neither with the front desk. Overall I enjoyed my stay there.

I used Hotwire and got this hotel for a school reunion for U of W. I have always gotten the Radisson before and this time I knew it was not the Radisson when I booked it. This hotel is a old historic hotel that was built in the 1890's and the 5th floor where we stayed was added on in... More

Got to the hotel & asked for a QUIET room - as I almost always do (they were not overly booked up). The girl who check me in assured me it was a quiet room. That was around 1 PM. Around 5 PM I heard piped music - in my room. (I couldn't find the source.) I check the hallways... More

I stayed in the Walper Hotel for five nights when I needed a temporary accommodation on a longer business trip. I was booking late, on a busy holiday weekend, and it was one of the cheapest hotels available in town (sic!). I was truly pleasantly surprised. It was the best hotel I used in the region so far (but I... More

I was pleasantly surprised by my stay at this hotel, the vintage feel and history made it have lots of character, the rooms where roomy and what was excellent was they had one of those new coffee machines you put cartages in, I am a tea drinker and always find it's impossible to make tea in a hotel in an...
