This hotel is a little gem. As previous reviewers have noted, it is an old hotel, with huge rooms and wondeful old furniture, no two rooms quite the same, redone but still far from tip top. Very well located for visits to local universities and research institutes. Weekend evenings, especially in summer, can get noisy on account of the restaurants... More

This boutique hotel is a very comfortable option to the other big hotels in the K-W area. The rooms are spacious and very nicely decorated, with most of them having various themes. The beds are comfortable and the service is friendly. Breakfast is provided at a selection of nearby restaurants.

I booked a reservation less than 48 hours in advance. I was fairly warned by the desk clerk that because the reservation was made in that time period that it was considered "firm". If I were to cancel, I would be "charged". I had no idea I would cancel, so I did not ask how much. Little did I realize... More

Stayed here for a couple of nightbrecently as all the usual hotels in Waterloo were fully booked - not an unusual occurrence. Good positioning in the centre of town but that also has it's issues with traffic and street noise. The hotel also has a restaurant either side and the noise from them comes straight up into the rooms. The... More

The room we were booked into for one night, the so-called music room, was a generous sized suite, and was outfitted nicely with antiques and a very comfortable bed. Both the room and the ensuite were clean as well - no complaints there. The front desk staff was also exceptional, and the breakfast voucher was a nice suprize. The room... More

We've stayed here 3 or 4 times over the last few years. It appears to have received no basic maintenance since its big restoration. Most recently we stayed in the Bridal Suite on the third floor - the room temperature was 75F and we could not lower it. The stopper in the sink would not open to allow water to... More

Parked in their little parking lot, which was only 1/2 full at the most and recieved a ticket for $25 . The three guys who dashed out to award the ludricus ticket did so with aggresiveness and were very rude . I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I booked a small business group at this charming hotel in October. We all loved it dearly. The restaurant next door provided a great free breakfast as part of our room rate. The thermostat in each of the unique rooms is connected to a fireplace- so cozy, especially for a Canadian winter night!- which is why I'm booking my group... More

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a single night. The room was clean and the staff was attentive: the down pillows and comforters were quickly replaced when I told them about my allergies. The free internet worked perfectly. The room had a fridge, but no microwave oven. The only reasons I am not giving this hotel an... More

i loved this pretty and affordable hotel.. each room has a theme name and the staff are so friendly and knowledgable about the city! of particular interest was our room, "the marine room", beautiful tiling in the bathroom. i would highly recommend this hotel. we dined at janet lynne's which was also delightful, upon staff recommendation.
