Although I'm writing this two years after the fact, we had a wonderful trip to Alberta. Thanks to Carmelo and Anneke's expert advice about seeing things off the beaten track, e.g., Kananaskas, Lake Moraine, Salmon River, Adams River (B.C.) where we saw nature at its finest. So many unexpected surprises on the drive to Vancouver like rainforests, salmon spawning and... more

My husband and I have stayed at many bed and breakfasts throughout North America and abroad, and none has been more wonderfully welcoming than Stella Alpina. When we first stayed with Anneke and Carmelo a couple of years ago, we were visiting Banff to explore the possibility of moving there for a professional opportunity. Our hosts made us feel instantly... more

We just returned from a stay at this wonderful B and B. Their home is located a two minute walk to Main Street with excellent restaurants and shopping - but it's on a quiet residentail street. We enjoyed their enthusiasm and knowledge of the area, the great breakfast, gorgeous room (with a large bathroom), interesting decor and view of the... more

Simply stated, this place rules. Anneke and Carmelo are the hosts with the most - from unbelievable breakfasts (they pick the wild mushrooms and basil in their incredible omelettes), to top notch recommendations about what to see and how to get there. The family has explored quite a bit of the backcountry, and they love guests who like to venture... more

We stayed two nights at the Stella Alpina and wished we had booked for more. The hosts were absolutely the best! They were knowledgeable about the area and helped us plan our day. The breakfasts, expecially the wild mushroom and herb omlettes were outstanding. I would not hesitate to recommend it to fellow travelers. more

We stayed here in July of 2004 (I'm a little delinquent in writing this review) and found this to be the best B&B which we ever have come across. The proprietors, Carmelo and Anneke, were unbelievably friendly and helpful. They also made great breakfasts, including omelettes with fresh mushrooms picked by Carmelo the day before. They also went out of... more
