I happened to stumble upon this beautiful hostel on September 1 , 2013. I had several hospital appointments scheduled so this location was perfect. I was greeted as soon as I walked through the front door by a young lady with a wonderful smile who introduced herself as ( Regina ). I told her that I was in need of... More

What a great place to stay! .... central to the town of Canmore with a spacious clean kitchen. There are really comfy couches upstairs, in the lounge/games room, beside a gas fire. Actually the room I had also had a lovely fireplace that was really cosy after a day out in -30. The heating is essential in the winter months... More

Stayed at the hostel over the February long weekend so it was a busy time. I was staying with a group and the check in was quick and easy. Lots of fridge space and common area to hang out in. I gave the hostel an average rating as the building is in need of some maintenance. The upstairs common room... More

I was impressed staying at the Hostel Bear for the following reasons: - The staff was very courteous and helpful. The family day weekend had full occupancy throughout Canmore and the Hostel Bear opened up some extra beds so present guests weren't "tossed out in the street". - Wi-Fi is excellent with extremely fast downloads (top notch). - Kitchen facilities... I've stayed in well over 20 hostels, and have lived in two. This hostel was by far the worst of all time. It was the most expensive ($35 a night for a co-ed dorm...apparently the price is based on occupancy?) and it was super dirty. The beds were a mess, which is ridiculous since all they have to do is... More

We stayed at this hostel for a few weeks, for what you are paying its not worth it. The rooms are dirty and the hospitality is poor. It feels like the staff are not to sure of what the are doing an seem reluctant to help. The staff are awesome to hang out with though and the kitchen is nice,... More

We booked this hostel on hostel bookers and paid the $20 deposit but when we arrived they claimed they did not have the booking. Our name was on the computer but reception person claimed this was someone else. We had to pay full price and not price agreed at booking. Room was overheated and we could not cool it. Worst... More

I don't like liars. Website advertised a free breakfast (toast/waffles) and 24 hour coffee available. There was neither of these things. Girl at reception rudely said they hadn't done the breakfast in months and seemed annoyed that I had even asked. This hostel is average in a lot of ways (hot sweaty rooms at night, loud noises from the train... More

They gave away our booking even though we arrived at 5pm. They had another room but in a 10 bed dorm. Dirty and very hot (30 deg) there is a rain line outside with train passing all night. When mentioned to the staff the next day they could not care less about any of our issues. Not a place I... More
