We needed to stay some where near Brighton, as we had tickets for the Rod Stewart concert at the 'Amex'. All hotels in the town were fully booked - it was the London to Brighton bike race that weekend, so we looked for those outside the town, the last on the list was the 'Jack & Jill', we managed to... I was cycling the South Downs Way over 3 days with a friend. Our wives drove between stops and supported us. We all stopped for one night at the Jack and Jill and had dinner and breakfast there. Both meals were very good and the staff friendly and helpful. Our bikes were muddy and we were able to partly clean... More

Stopped by for beer and lunch but service was poor. Queued for nearly 15mins to get served and only 3 people in front of me. Nobody seem to know how to use the fancy touch screen till was half the problem and no apology from the staff for wait. The beer was fine but a mix up in cellaring had... More

We were on our way to visit some friends in Sussex, one Sunday, when we came across this delightful pub, at the foot of the South Downs, and stopped there for Sunday lunch. We had the roast beef, which was absolutely delicious, and the potatoes were done to perfection, as were the roast parsnips and the other vegetables. The food... More

What an awfull experience that I never wish to repeat, to say it was overpriced would be an under statement, the food was ordinary, but because it was local food they charged a fortune, Sat in th beer garden where a child aloud to kick a ball about in the seating area proceded to knock over the drinks on the... We had our wedding celebration at the Jack & Jill for 60 people with a hot sit down meal a buffet in the evening and a live band with dancing. We would thoroughly recommend it as the service and quality of the food was superb, Would like to give a big thank you to Paul Harman and his team who... More

This is one of the pubs we regularly go to, it's location at the bottom of the Downs is great, either as the start/finish of a pre-dinner walk or as the halfway point for a longer walk. The food is excellent with a large percentage being locally sourced, the venison burger is particularly good. This pub is well worth a... More

This is a very friendly Pub. I went there with my Wife and had a pint of Guinness. This pub is perfectly placed as to scenery and a view of the Sussex South Downs. I enjoyed my sandwich and would thoroughly recommend this pub to anyone.

Stayed here for two nights. Lovely relaxing pub which is candlelit at night which makes for a nice atmosphere. The food was excellent (although they didn't serve until 7pm and we were quite hungry!) - venison and ale casserole one night and parmesan omelette the next. The bar staff were particularly pleasant and friendly as was the chef/owner Paul and... More

We at The Sussex Magic Circle have visiting magicians from all over the world visit us each year, for the last three years we have used the Jack & Jill to accommodate all our visitors, all of which have enjoyed their stays. Good rooms, food, and beer, what more can you ask for?
