Myself and three work colleagues stayed at the jack and jill from 16 Feb 2015 for four nights. On arrival it all looks good basic but good. We had twin rooms fist night ok nice and warm with a clean towel, second night heating turned off, window open room was freezing, o and same towel. Third night same again with... More

We were made to feel welcome, and had a hearty breakfast prior to our day's walking. But our stay was spoiled by a bedroom that was in serious need of attention. There was black mould in the shower room, probably as a result of a leak somewhere. If you're planning to stay, check that the problem has been sorted out!

We had some nice food and drink but the cost was out of proportion to the food. Pint of beer, gin and tonic and a plain baked potatoe and a baked potatoe with coronation chicken should not cost £21.80!

Quaint traditional pub with a few rooms, which were clean and fine for the night we were there. TV and en suite shower/toilet. Good food and friendly staff. Large garden with pleasant views. Would recommend for any short stop over.

Relatively nice beer however, the food is overpriced and disapponting. We went this Sunday and were amazed at the prices for kids' meals. Over £6 for macaronie cheese! I went for the ham, egg and chips. The 'hand carved ham' was wet and very disppointing for the £10. My wife had roast lamb. Apparently local! Not much cop.

We stayed for two nights and the room was simple but cute and clean. Being so near the main road I was worried about the traffic but that wasn't an issue at all. The bus stop is right outside the door which was great. The pub served us great food and the full english breakfast had amazing sausages. We will... More

We had a lovely lunch in the garden a couple of Sundays ago. We were a large party of 17, including 5 children. Everybody's meal arrived within a few minutes, the food was great, tasty, hot and fresh. Everyone happy, and served by friendly easy-going staff. Very pretty country garden with swings and slides.

Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Very good wifi both in restaurant and room. Though located at the main road calm garden at the back and nice clean room. Perfect for a refreshing evening/night. Large parking. About half a mile from the trail first up and then down a hill.

I won't go on at length, as trying to forget the experience of staying here. Room filthy, no lightbulb, one threadbare towel for 2 people for 3 night stay, no external lighting when we returned in the pitch black, urine stains and hair on the loo seat from previous occupant, etc, etc.....when we complained, we were insulted, also told we... Didn't stay but went for drinks. Nearly 12 quid for two pints of shandy, a pint of lime and soda, and a bag of crisps. Ouch. Fine if customers will stand this, but when it's deathly quiet on a sunny July Saturday, they must not be. Real shame because food is good (but also a massive shock to the wallet),... More
