When we checked in at the bar, the lady was not at all friendly,The room had been double booked, so we were lucky to get a room, but I think it was payback, we were on the first floor (which we wanted) but next to the road, was no point shutting the window because it never shut out the road... The room was clean and comfortable went downstairs to the bar there was great entertainment and nice friendly helpful staff. Didn't have a meal but thought the prices were pretty good. Was pretty impressed about the beer prices they were reasonably cheap for in the city.

This is an economical hotel which is close to a variety of public transport. There is a wide range of eating places within 5-10 minutes walk. It is right in the CBD so there ois a little street noise. The staff at reception are very helpful and knowldegeable. One slight drawback is the absence of a lift but the staff... More

Cricket World Cup NZ Tour Very pleasant, clean, no frills, good old boozer type accommodation, recently acquired by new owners and about to have a refurb I gather. Very handy location and all the best Auckland centre has to offer is within easy walking distance. The staff were very courteous and helpful. They didn't require a credit card imprint and... More

Clean comfortable rooms, great location, and friendly helpful staff. We would recommend this hotel. The retro bathrooms were neat! A great deal for a nice place. The bar on the main floor was good as well. Never to busy while we were there, but had a good vibe.

This heritage hotel is conveniently located close to the city and is very affordable for those on a budget. It is easy to find if you take the Sky city exit on the motorway and really easy to get back on the motorway. There is a small pay as you go car-park beside the hotel and it costs about $16... More

this was our last hotel in NZ and it was a different experience in a good way. It was easy to walk all over the city, we where there over the weekend and there was a bit noisy from Skycity (think it was coming from a club opposite) on the weekend, but not to bad.

Arrived here in the afternoon, the hotel reception was closed so I had to get room keys from the bar on the ground floor, which took some time. The room is basic and ideally the whole place needs complete refurbishment. As it stands it is good value for money for a hotel in the centre of the city. No breakfast... More

Absolutely basic, Hotel seems to have been sitting in a state of stagnation and decay without any concern for improving conditions. No lift so enjoy walking up 4 floors worth of stairs to get to your room with all your luggage. Dont stay unless you have no where else to go.

Will start with the positives... 1) Friendly staff...2) Good location...3) Great shower... 4) Clean bedding. Negatives... 1) Very hot, stuffy room with no air conditioning or fan...2) One small window that HAD to be open but did nothing except let street noise in...3) Tv could not function without a remote control...
