Found this hotel in the Spain Lonely Planet and booked it. Got there mid afternoon and were sent to their secondary building just down the road from the restaurant. So amazed at the quality of the accommodation for the price. Beautifully decorated rooms. Sitting room below with a fabulous coffee machine, computers, TV. Restaurant in the main building looked great,... More

We chose this property because it was close to the Vivanco Winery in Briones - and we were right to do so! The apartment was very easy to find (with a GPS), close to the main road and to the winery, plenty of parking space on the street, quiet small village (although there were fiestas in town during our stay).... I stayed here in August 2014 with my 3 children. We had a lovely large room which was perfect for us and very good value as well. We also had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, which was delicious. My pudding (an orange sorbet with dark chocolate sauce) was the nicest pudding I have had for ages! The staff were... More

Lovely cellars in the hostal make for a great setting for some great food. I wouldnt say inexpensive but not over the top for lovely presentation service and atmosphere. Briones has a lot going for it and this restaurant just made it even better.

Briones is a very beautiful small village with one of the most amazing historic central places ever seen. From Briones and the hotel you have a stunning view on the Rioja area, the mountains and all the cultural landscape around. Our room was very lovely and passionately decorated. The service is very friendly. Dinner was very good, it is in... More

Best restaurant in the area, from what folks said. Complete menu. We had began with a salad with shrimp and Iberian ham. We also ordered some baby lamb kidneys with a nice garlic sauce. Tasty. I had a nicely done steak. Nicely prepared but not the aged beef you usually find in the asadores (steak houses) in the north of... More

We were lucky to find this place as Briones does not show on our map. The 2 star hotel has 4 bedrooms over a restaurant. The room is light and airy with views overlooking the Rioja valley. At €55 per night I cannot think why you would want to spend more. Sadly the restaurant was not open on the Thursday... More

We arrived early as usual for lunch and were greeted warmly. We were having a hard time finding the right wine (we like big, bold and red) and somehow were able to communicate that to the manager/owner who brought us a bottle not on the menu that was delicious (Valenciso Rioja 2005 Reserva). Not knowing the price when we agreed... More

We stayed one night in the new Calaos * Hotel building, since the original place was full. The room was charming and includes a flat tv and wifi. Bath room is state of the art and convenient (altough the shower drain couldn't handle the rain shower yet - room nearly flooded). The bed was good and the location was quiet.... More

Loved this place - the suckling pig (their specialty) was the reason we went. The decor is a bit old school but in an interesting setting (cave under the hotel). Service was very friendly and helpful as we don't speak much Spanish. We had local starters like marinated piquillo peppers, white asparagus and then the Cochinillo (suckling pig). The wine... More
