Visited here with my wife for a night away. The room (Converted Mk1 Coach) is brilliant! The bed, soft but comfortable. However... in the summer months it's warm...boarding on hot. No Air moves through the coach (no surprise as the ventilation was designed for 'on the move') The hotel did give us a fan, which moved about 1liter of air... More

Room was comfortable but small. Bathroom needs refurb but clean. The meal was a set meal because we were on a special deal. We had a 3 course meal with 3 dishes to choose from for each course. Really delicious but as the place filled, it took longer for the service. I really think that they do not have enough... More

We visited The Sidings after been bought a Living Social deal from a family member who had already been. We can only assume that they didn't stay in room 5!! Whilst I expected compact, quirkiness and old I also expected cleanliness and good customer service. The instant we pulled up I was disappointed .The rose tinted image I had from... More

Visited here a couple of years ago and stayed in Room 8 [recommended]. Not much has changed. There are 5 carriages of which 2 are used for accommodation. One other is a dining car. The carriages are standard British Railways rolling stock from the 1950s and were originally of the "Blood and Custard" livery but are now a rather sad... More

Just finished breakfast on our last day here. Arrived Sunday for two nights four of us. We have had a smashing stay. The staff are brilliant George (owner) Leon and Maria, nothing to much bother. Food good, continental breakfast. However, very close to train lines but you do sleep in train carriages and that's the quirkyness of it. We have... More

An unusual place to stay. The rooms are more than adequate and certainly more interesting than the average chain budget hotel. The bed was comfortable and the shower was brilliant. The food in the restaurant was of a very high standard and staff welcoming and very friendly. I fully support the positive comments made by earlier reviewers and would agree... More

Just to set the records straight for the purists. These were never "Pullman" coaches more likely ex-LMS mid fifties general stock and they have not been restored, rather they have been adapted and converted into seven absolutely perfectly adequate en-suite rooms with TV and Tea/Coffee facilities so whilst the interiors bear little resemblance to actual railway compartments you do still... Stayed two nights staff friendly food very good breakfast good but could be organised a little better eg bread handled by everyone. Traffic in morning a bit loud . Nice place for access to York and dales. Plenty of high speed trains hurtling past. Fifties style train carriages converted to bedrooms could do with a little refurb. Overall an experience... More
