Stayed at the Hotel Noir this week, a beautiful hotel, friendly and helpful staff and the food and generous drinks were fantastic. We had room 206, four poster and it was superb with again a generous complimentary mini-bar and brand new bathroom suite. Free car park also a big help. Thank you for a great stay, highly recommended.

I won't lie. After reading a few recent reviews I became concerned about my visit to hotel noir, I really needn't have worried. The staff here are wonderful, polite, helpful and really appear to have a genuine affection and bond with each other, this really is a beautiful thing to see. The room was spotless, coffee machine and chef made... More

After reading the other reviews after booking, we were somewhat concerned. However, there was no need to be. The staff were friendly and polite, very helpful - nothing was to much trouble. We would like thank the following staff in particular - Helen, Emma, Louise and Laurenne. The room we stayed in was lovely, we booked the four poster room... More

Ok - it's not a place to review art...but the decor if the hotel is distinctive in that it is mainly black and white with rare splashes of red. The rooms can be a bit oppressive as a result. However everything is fine in terms of comfort and cleanliness. The receptionist Matthew was very welcoming, efficient and polite. The breakfast... More

Stayed last month. My overriding memories are how gloomy the whole place is (they have fitted LED lights EVERYWHERE but gone for cheapo ones that are just too dim, the dining room in particular is awful, can't see what's on the breakfast shelves); and the tiny car park is a joke, especially when they let someone park a massive minivan... Reception staff very helpful. However.... Bedroom was damp: there was a towel on the floor where obviously the shower in the room upstairs has leaked through the ceiling. Bed was old, soft and uncomfortable. Traffic noise in the room was loud. Cramped shower room had no window and no extractor fan. Evening meal food was of poor quality and rather... More

Stayed here last year and could not fault our stay. Our room was perfect, so much so we requested the same one again for our return this year. To our disappointment, when we arrived we were told we couldn't have the room as it was already taken. As a result of this we were upgraded for free to a four... More

An interesting view point on self importance. My room was comfortable & clean with a good spacious bathroom. As for the dining experience it was something different, the waiting staff advised my colleague & I that the hotel had a Rosette, the inference being for its food. The first course of ham hock terrine was tasty but small, on asking... More

Where to start? Grotty bathroom, extractor didn't work and no window, holes in tiles where fittings had been moved/changed. Blood on mattress, giant hole in sheet, hole in duvet cover and duvet itself muddy!. Heat was extreme and noise from other rooms was dreadful, every drop of water through the pipes could be heard. Unhelpful and untrained staff (NO customer... More

The hotel is situated on Clifton Green on the A19 about ten minutes walk out of York city centre. There is private parking at the hotel, which is locked at night, but it is limited so don't leave it too late if you want a space! There is plenty of parking however on nearby side streets. Check-in was straightforward and... More
