Great place. Staff excellent. Food beautiful and plenty off it and great selection and local food on offer. Prices excellent against the quantity you receive and I mean massive portions. This is the place to go if in Wick or Thurso area. Visited many times over the years and never left disappointed. Look forward to my next visit.

We stayed in this Hotel a few years ago it was excellent so decided to drop in and try the restaurant, the staff are every bit as friendly as when we last visited and the food was superb. We will definitely return.

A group of us stayed overnight in the Brown Trout on our way to catch the ferry from Gills Bay to Orkney. It was a speculative booking and we didn't really know what to expect but we all agreed it was a success and we would definitely stay there again. The staff were all very friendly and eager to help... More

We arrived mid afternoon and, as there was no-one about, found our room key and a note giving us the wi-fi code. We made ourselves at home and later found the bar where we enjoyed a drink before ordering from the very plentiful menu. (There was also a Specials board.) The food was delicious.Although the hotel is on a cross-roads... More

Not quite heaven but four of us (males) on a fishing trip stayed here for four days and nights during the recent hot spell. Landlady Donna met us and made us feel at home right away. The food was excellent throughout, the only gripe I had was a venison burger which, to be honest should have remained on the deer!... More

Had a long drive up to Caithness and decided to eat here. Is advisable to book a table as they were pretty busy and the restaurant was full, even on a grey wednesday night. Staff were really friendly and attentive. The meal was really really good so would definitely return at some future point.

We stayed here for 2 nights en route to Orkney. On previous visits, we have broken our journey further south nearer Inverness, but we wanted to visit the Grey Cairns of Camster, the Hill o'Many Stanes, and the Clearance Village on the coast between Helmsdale and Berriedale (all of which are well worth seeing). The Brown Trout serves as the... More

We stayed in this hotel for one night on a tour of the north of Scotland. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room was cosy and clean with a plentiful supply of bottled water and biscuits. We ate in the bar that night and the food was delicious particularly the lamb shank which Is... More

3 of us stayed here on work in April. We were made to feel incredibly welcome by all 3 ladies on shift. From our arrival, to dinner, to breakfast we were looked after perfectly. My only disappointment was i couldn't remember the ladies names. The hotel hasn't been updated for a while but maybe that adds to the feeling of... More

Stayed one night while in Wick on work. Very friendly small hotel and great food. The evening meal, which we elected to have in the bar, was excellent and filling, but it was the morning full Scottish breakfast which is amazing. Beautiful, quality products and plenty of it... this is the first full Scottish breakfast I have been unable to... More
