We had reservations at the Avalon lodge for two nights. Upon arrival we pulled in after being in the car for hours, and were looking forward to freshening up and dinner. We walked into the lobby where there was no one at the front desk. The sign said to ring the bell for service, which I did three different times,... More

Yes, we are busy and can fill up fast. We were already full when you booked, for days in advance. We did not give away your room. I am so sorry you got stuck, but this was entirely an EXPEDIA Issue. Darn third parties! I have to refer you back to them for any info. For the future, I can... More

We read all the reviews, we discounted the lower ratings - but being a 4/5 rating on TripAdvisor must count - right? Unfortunately, Avalon Lodge fell short with us as well. The rooms are 'ok' - the bed is on the hard side, just a simple pillow-top could do wonders for the beds to be honest. The bathroom was recently... More

Dear Todd, Thank you for your feedback. As most of the items you mention are things we are proud of, we may not have been the best choice for you. Staying in Tahoe in peak periods, such as you did, we understand when you have to scramble for a room not suited to you. The breakfast is “Light and healthy”... More

The hotel is very clean and quaint. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The downside....the Internet is basically non-existent. The very weak router is in an upstairs housekeeping closet....even sitting right outside that door the signal was not strong enough for me to get email. They should not advertise wifi with this type of connection.... More

Dear Kehlw00, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you had issues with Internet. Tahoe swells to capacity and at times, the bandwidth in our area can be like molasses. We do have Wi-Fi and it has always been nice and speedy… but with growing technology uses and in peak times, we have decided to invest in a more... More

This hotel advertises itself as a boutique establishment. This is misleading and raises your expectations. The Avalon Lodge is a 1-2 star budget motel that charges $200/night in July. There is no airconditioning in the rooms and they heat up like an oven during the summer. At night everyone leaves all of their windows and doors propped wide open to... More

Dear MtnBrd, I am so sorry you were not happy. We are unable to reach you because of the anonymity of this review, to better understand your circumstance. I do know you stayed in the busiest, peak season. We pride ourselves on our cleanliness, and are unaware of any stained sheets, and you did not bring any issue to our... More

The Avalon Lodge is a lovely hotel that is close to the casinos, Lakeside Beach in South Lake Tahoe and close to the shops and restaurants at Heavenly Village. We chose it because it is near Harvey's Outdoor arena where we saw Imagine Dragons. The room was comfortable and had and updated and modern feel. It had a lovely fireplace... More

Dear babobear1. Thank you for your review and taking the time to highlight our location, updated comfy rooms and light and healthy breakfast. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciate your recommendation to others. Taking the green approach and re-furbishing an older property does come with its challenges. We have been experiencing issues with IT – as many... More

Currently sitting in room 17 as I type this. We booked a room at this hotel for 4th of July weekend. From the website it comes across as a boutique hotel, under new ownership with massive renovations. You would expect a level of quality from this place because of it, but it falls short of so much including dishonest communication... More

Dear doclovesorganix, Well, this is quite a review. I am sorry to hear you were not happy during such a fun holiday weekend. Also, it was a very busy time frame in Tahoe and our staff’s observation was that you were unhappy from the time of your arrival. With your knowledge of the industry, I am sure you understand that... My husband and I stayed at the Avalon Lodge in June last year and had a great experience, so we decided to stay again this year. However, this time our experience was not as great. I'm not sure if there's been a change in ownership and/or management. On the positive side, the beds are very comfy and the location is... More

Yes, we do have great beds and an awesome location! Thank you for your feedback. We always listen and I assure you it helps us improve in areas we may not be aware of. It seems our housekeeping staff (in training during your stay) was not up to speed yet. I, along with the Lodge Manager, personally ensure our team... More

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and the hotel was actually one of our highlights! The staff gave us the best customer service either of us have ever received. They went above and beyond to meeting all of our needs. We weren't able to get a rental car, and the manager (Rhonda) just handed us her car... More

The room was really nice. Walking distance to the casino and the beach. Front desk was very friendly. Very quiet and relaxing. Even offered bike to ride. Very nice get away for the weekend. A box of chocolates on the bed, You could even have a glass of sherry.

Fabulous staff - who really cares. Perfect healthy breakfast and the room was well designed. We brought our dog, could walk everywhere and they didn't charge for bike use, Wi-Fi and I see they have Kayaks, too, although we did not use them this trip. We WILL be back!
