The boyfriend and I booked this room about 4 hours before our planned arrival. The price was just in our budget and we were lucky to snag something for the same night. We arrived around 11:15p and we had no issues checking in. The owners (I wish I remembered their names) are the most adorable couple, and even at 11:15p,... More

The bed was comfortable, the location is excellent, but my shower had a few extra holes. At $50/night I expected worse so I'm actually pretty pleased with that. The guy working the desk was friendly and helpful and it wasn't a big deal that I boarded a half day and checked out late.

If you don't want to pay much, this might be a good choice. The beds were fine, bathroom was ok. Neither breakfast nor laundry, just a place to sleep. They have wifi. The closest to Emerald Bay you'll have for this price.

We have stayed here in August for 3 nights. Its location is good. You have almost everything you need in walking distance. There is a delicious Thai restaurant across the street ;) It is a family owned motel and these guys are totally nice and helpful. The rooms are good and the beds are comfortable (depends on visitors preferences) and... More

OK ...this place is inexpensive so you can't expect the Ritz. Here are some of the negatives: no bath window screen no bath sink stopper flimsy door locks worn and hodge podge furniture wall outlets so worn out that they couldn't weight of the cell phone charger (actually a safety hazard since the poor connection resulted in a very hot... We are a couple, just completing a 4 day stay here in Lake Tahoe at the Matterhorn Motel. A very small (about 20 units) motel right on US-50 California side of the South Lake Tahoe/Stateline area. The owners are very nice and helpful. The rooms of this older motel have been updated in many areas (particularly the bathrooms). Our unit... More

I've been coming here every summer for the last few years. The rooms are simple with basic amenities and clean. So if you're looking for or expecting something different this may not be the place for you.The family who runs this hotel are very sweet and very accommodating. New flat screen tv's in the rooms. I will continue to come... More

I am a traveler RN and this is my third time here. The room is comfortable and the family is most helpful. The atmosphere is friendly and I was allowed to bring my own things, plants included. If Barton Memorial ever needs nurses, they send us here for a good reason. Very safe and close to restaurants and shopping. I... More

The Matterhorn Motel was nice if you plan to go to South Lake Tahoe and do outdoor activities, is a few miles away from the main street, but the staff are very friendly, and they try their best to fulfill your needs. The rooms are clean, they have a nice TV with cable, new beds, parking right outside your room, they... More
