I loved this place...to the point where I'd move in if I could! I think it's safe to assume that adventurous spirits head to Lake Tahoe, and Basecamp's location caters to these types. I could walk down to the lake to kayak, swim, SUP, or walk up the street to Heavenly to hike or wander around the village. The décor... More

Awesome location, hotel has character, with old hiking equipment and survey tools it feels like an outpost for adventure. Breakfast is very good, free parking and wi-fi, very close to the base of Heavenly ski season. Will gladly go back.

I stayed in the family room with the bunk beds and my kids loved them. I could rest and they had fun just getting in bed. The rooms were clean and the whole place had a nice vibe to it. The guys working the desk could not have been nicer or more helpful. Drink a beer and relax by the... More

Set on the edge of a coniferous grove overstocked with circa 1960 motels, Basecamp has risen up as repurposed lodging that is sure to warm the hearts of adventurous travelers. The lobby is tastefully appointed with a modest bar serving beer and wine, and inside and outside seating areas encourage conversation with complete strangers. As just about every review notes,... It may still look like a Motel from the outside but Basecamp is a very special place. Why? Because it has character, atmosphere and a wonderful crew. My husband and I spent three nights and would do it again in the heartbeat. I mentioned when booking that we were celebrating his b-day so they left a note and bottle of... More

The Basecamp Hotel is a cute, rustic hotel so if you are looking for 4 or 5 stars, this is not for you. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean but the floor was really squeaky. The location is great, walking distance to the lake and to the shops & gondola. The continental was ok, pastries, yogurt &... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay here just a short walk from shopping, restaurants and the state line casinos. Urban hipsters will appreciate the great attention to detail in the remake of this property, including the warm, welcoming lobby, irreverent signage, and incredibly accommodating staff. This will be our home away from home whenever our travels bring us back to... More

The location, the excellent employees and service, the hot tub, the bonfire, the continental breakfast sitting on our large balcony under the pine trees, the TENT!!! It was more fun than I ever imagined.

I can't recommend this place enough, it's amazing. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, there's free breakfast each morning, and beer and wine happy hour at their mini bar each night. The location is great and is within walking distance to a private beach that the front desk will give you passes to. Heavenly Village is across the street... More

My husband and I have written and published a total of eleven hiking guides thru Globe Pequot and Mountaineers Books. We liked the hiking theme we saw online and the reviews. The pictures also looked enticing. We really wanted to like this place. But... We wouldn't recommend this hotel at least not during the summer. We checked in after one... More

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about your stay with us. I'm so disappointed to hear we fell short of your expectations, particularly in terms of value. The property has a long history dating back to the 1950's, and it took nearly a full year to complete renovations before opening in June of 2012. This process... More
