We recently spent 4 nights at Basecamp where we were able to enjoy a family reunion. The room's decor was unique and clever. The staff was more than accommodating and very friendly! We particularly enjoyed the casual friendly atmosphere. Everyone can mingle in the lobby or out by the fire pit (munching s'mores). It's a refreshing escape from the ordinary!!

This place was great as soon as we got there the staff were very friendly welcoming and helpful. It was a very nice atmosphere in the communal areas inside with the large sofas and outside with the fire pit. The room was lovely a decent size, clean, very comfortable beds slept really well. There is no air conditioning however so... More

Whether you like it or not, Gwyneth Paltrow's website, Goop, was 100% right. This place is very cool. We stayed for 3 nights in the Explorers Club room. Genius layout with a lot of sleeping capacity for a family of 5 (3 open beds!). The table in the middle of the room was really useful, yet such a simple idea.... More

We came across Basecamp online and thought we'd give it a try. It's a cool boutique hotel with a CB2 meets camping vibe. Overall we loved Basecamp for it's quiet location off the main strip with easy access to all the fun play stuffs in Tahoe. The downside to the hotel is the layers of dust on the ceiling fans,... The title of our review says it all. Booked 4 nights online through Hotels.com at a decent price. Decided to add an additional night, booked directly through the hotel and was charged $229.00 for a SUNDAY night on the day we checked out! Far too high for an out of season hotel room. $1000 for 5 nights at this hotel... More

Dear jwright139, While I am glad you liked the concept of the hotel, I am disappointed to hear that we fell short of your expectations in terms of value. The rate for the additional night should have been made clear to you at the time of booking, and I am terribly sorry that was not the case. Please know the... More

My husband and I stayed at the Basecamp on the weekend of the Tour de Tahoe, cycle ride around the lake. It was clean, and well maintained. Breakfast complimentary in the morning and coffee always avail. We would go back again.

This was a cool spot; low-key vibe; "reclaimed" design theme. It's close to the main drag in South Lake, so there's plenty nearby, including the beach (which they gave us a free pass to). The continental breakfast is a nice touch and overall the common spaces have a casual lounge-y feel. It is not, however, a luxury property. It is... More

Dear brad2k, Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts about your recent stay. I'm glad you enjoyed the overall vibe of the hotel and the convenient location, though I'm sorry we fell a bit short of your expectations. It is true that we are not a luxury hotel, but we are a thoughtfully designed, rustic yet stylish property... More

We were here for a wedding and it was awesome. Bed was comfy, staff was nice and very helpful for activities in the area. Location is walking distance to the Heavenly area which has great nightlife and shopping. If we return to Tahoe I'd definitely look in to staying here again.

So first, the good... This motel, now referred to as a boutique hotel, is centrally located and within walking distance to all of the fun South Lake Tahoe has to offer, from Heavenly Village, to local Casino's and semi-private beach access. The owners have updated this in to a hipster haven with a cool vibe, casual and relaxed atmosphere, eco-friendly... More
