It has been several years since I dared to visit this resort again based on a truly horrible experience we had in 2013. We had stayed in the cabins off & on for over fifteen years prior to that point. I heard there was a new, reasonable and caring manager so we've been back twice now and it feels like... More

Stopped by at Camp Richardson en route to North rim of Lake Tahoe. Reasonably priced ($30 per head for a whole day of cross country skiing including rentals and facility fees). No instructors available, but the guy at the counter was extremely knowledgeable and gave us some basic pointers. The facility also has access to snowshoeing.

The cabins are rustic on the outside and well-furnished in the inside (no television) and actually very comfortable.. Outside, there’s grill and a picnic table, relax while smelling the sweet smell of pines and feel the breeze whistling through the trees. We stayed at the Fleetwood cabin (can sleep 8-9 people). The lake is steps away from where you are... More

We stayed in the Camp Richardson campground in an RV during September so it was reasonably peaceful in nice surroundings and only a short walk across the road to the beach and quite close to Emerald Bay with good viewpoints of the lake and Fannette Island. I can imagine it being 'party central' during the holiday season but for us... More

The campground is situated near lake tahoe, a 5 minute walk away. The ground is a little bit dusty but with trees. The facilities are old and they really need a renewal. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A good place to start your vacation activities as hiking, jet ski, kayaking...

We stayed for our honeymoon and have come back two years straight for our anniversary. No stop in site of year after year booking a cabin here. Clean and friendly staff. Close to grocer and butcher. We cook most meals at the Cain but walk to the Beacon for meals occasionally. Easy access to marina. Lots to do or not... More

Always wonderful at Camp Richardson. We stay in the RV area up the hill from the lake. It's a little walk to the lake or you can drive and pay $10 parking fee to get close. If you don't get to the lake early the parking fills up. Yes we have seen bears. They live in the wilderness that I... More

Our family of four had a great stay in our RV at Camp Richardson. All the utilities worked well and we had a secluded site in a far corner of the camp ground. We were happy with the space allocated. On our second evening a huge bear sauntered through the camp site which was a little unnerving, but not completely... More

Horrible dust bowl of a campground. Poor power and water connections, 3 feet from next campground. Almost ruined our camping trip experience. Saved by Meeks Campground and Resort. Will never return to Richardson or that overrun area of the lake again.

If you're looking for a place to "camp" where you can party all night, this is it. But, if you're like us, you want someplace more sedate and closer to nature. This isn't it. Surrounding campsites had bright lanterns and loud music way past midnight, so much that I couldn't show my daughter the constellations in quiet and darkness at... More
