We stayed here on a tour with Elder Treks on a tour through Yunnan. This hotel was a highlight of the visit. Fully equipped, staff speaks some English, relaxing lobby, good food and very large comfortable rooms. In a remote area overlooking tiered farmland and a short walk to a quant village. We wanted to stay longer.

Our stay at Songtsam Tacheng--and our visit to the nearby snubnose monkey reserve--was the absolute highlight of a 16-day trip to Yunnan. Beautiful views, quietly attentive staff, thoughtfully prepared meals, luxurious rooms in a rural setting. Could not have been more wonderful!

“Off the beaten path” certainly applies to the Songtsam Tacheng lodge. Of course the lodge itself continues the Songtsam tradition of style and decoration in the traditional Tibetan theme. It is beautiful and at the same time – homey. You just feel comfortable as soon as you are greeted and given your arrival tea. A note about “Tibet”: Many people... More

We stayed here for two days and found it to be a top grade hotel in every way. Location, staff, food, and the overall atmosphere made it our favorite hotel in the group. Walking to the nearby village is easy and there are many other more strenuous walks around. It is located in a quiet rural area and the local... More

We recently did a tour of all the five Songtsam lodges in Yunnan. Spent approx. 9 days. Before booking, we had to choose between a tropical destination with sandy beaches, palm trees, warm weather or seeing more of China. Whilst the tropical destination sounded really alluring to us, as we actually live in China, we eventually chose for Yunnan. And... More

My family and I spent 10 days traveling along the Songtsam lodges (lugu --> tacheng --> benziland --> meili --> lugu) and Tacheng was our favorite. It is set in an idyllic countryside village, up on a hill overlooking barley and rice fields. The building is large enough to house 10 rooms, but cosy enough to make you feel like... More

This Lodge is one of the best places we've ever stayed, anywhere in the world. It's location in a quiet rural village overlooking a beautiful valley and snow-peaked mountains is stunning, the rooms are huge and very well-equipped, and the staff is very professional and helpful. Lunch and dinner are provided, and the three cooks from Tacheng village managed to... More

We did the Songtsam circuit and the Tacheng hotel was our first stop. The staff was first rated, and I was especially impressed with the manager. She ran an efficient operation, and everyone in the staff was well trained and we'll corordinated. Tacheng itself is a little town, but the golden monkeys are reason enough to make this a stop.... This hotel, nestled in a mountain valley is near the Baima Nature Reserve where the Yunnan Snub nosed monkeys are found. We had a family room which was big, really comfortable and with a balcony overlooking terraced rice fields. The meals we had here incorporated fresh vegetables grown in their own garden. We had mainly vegetarian dishes and they were... More
