On our second leg we stayed at the Songtsam in Tacheng it it was the heaven on earth. We felt like staying at a private mansion. In the morning we visited the golden monkeys and in the afternoon we were hiking around the surrounding villages.

Songtsam Tacheng was our first stop while doing 7 days on the Songtsam circuit of Yunnan. The staff was welcoming and the location was beautiful and soothing. It' takes about two hours from Shangri-la (Zhongdian) over some harrowing winding mountain roads to get to this branch of the Songtsam chain, but the drive is worth the effort.
