We booked to stay here because of the good reviews we read on here. On the plus side the staff were very friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable and the manager was accommodating when we said we didn't want to stay for a second night. However, the open plan bar/restaurant is awful. The television was blaring so that staff... More

A short overnight stay, location more important than the hotel. Very warm welcome - and we got an upgrade from the booked executive room to the Kelbrook suite without asking whilst booking in (thanks!). Very good and friendly service, food was enjoyable, and we did enjoy the room.

I stayed here over a weekend and really couldn't fault it! Lovely atmosphere, really friendly and helpful staff, and the pet-friendly room was superb with ample exercise areas nearby. The only thing I could possibly find fault with was that the shower wasn't really hot enough, but that's a pretty small detail and certainly wouldn't put me off returning. I... More

It poured down! Breakfast was in the main building so it was a dash in the rain to food. Booked with laterooms and their room categories weren't the same description as hotel so I wasn't sure what standard of room we'd booked. It was good though and only real complaint was the unlined curtains which let light in and as... More

had a lovely stay over in the annex building. I stayed here for a few nights. the room was ok and the staff on the bar was lovely and we enjoyed our lovely home cooked breakfast each morning. the only problem I really had was the extremely LOUD cleaner who bellowed down the coridoor every morning. I could tell you... More

Stayed here 3 years ago and left a not very good review. Reply was that the rooms were being refurbished that November (2012). Stayed again this last week as over in the area for a family funeral. Room still not refurbished as other guests have noticed - owners still promising they will be. Problems - No bedside lamps Dismal dark... More

Stayed for one night as we were in the area for a funeral. We arrived in the evening and the reception was closed. We went into the pub and checked in then walked through the bar to the rooms. The place is undergoing a refurbishment according to the signage and it certainly needs it. The room we were in was... More

The bar staff were friendly and enjoyed the night stay was fairly cosy, but in the morning at breakfast we all ordered at the same time and the waiter by accident only took 3 orders down, there were 4 of us so I was waiting for my food so I pulled a waiter and asked politely were my food was,... Meeting up of friends and needed to stay local the them. Wished we had drive home . arrival into a very dark , very windy overgrown by shrubs car park, badly signed and almost totally unlit is not the most welcoming start to a stay . No signage from the car park as to which way was the reception to... More

We haven't been for a meal to the Old Stone Trough for a while, but always remember the food being superb. What a disappointment when we went today. The food was awful, but didn't want to make a fuss. 2 out of 3 of my courses were not good, same with my other half. Sorry guys, felt cheated today....... Absolutely... More
