There is no question about the gorgeous setting or the sweet staff, but when things go wrong there are very few options. You are on a remote island. We had intermittent water the first day and no water the 2nd day. When the water did operate there was very little water pressure. The are very limited food options, the pool... More

Could not recommend the place more highly. From arrival by boat to the small intimate size and friendly feel to the most accommodating hosts, all was perfect. This is a boutique small resort so don't expect the Ritz but rather something better. Food, drink, service, atmosphere etc SUPERB. Please go and experience the hospitality.

If you want to unwind, decompress, and get away from the speed of daily living, there is no better place than Hotel Cala Mia. You are picked up on the docks of Boca Chica and transported by boat to the beautiful well kept island resort hosted by some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. Joey and Ray, our... More

We stayed 2 nights in this paradise. We come from East Gemany, and since we can move around the world, we did not visit a better place. Rooms so full of art, so individual. People so friendly, a view from the place behind the Bungalow so wonderful. Excellent breakfast and dinner is waitig for you. An overwhelming sunrise, leguans on... More

We stayed 3 nights in this beautiful location. It was about 4 months after it changed hands, but they kept most of their lovely staff -- particularly Ray, Joey, Diana, Iris (the masseuse). I don't if they kept the same cook, but the food was marvelous. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, friendly, or attentive. Our rooms were clean,... More

The Cala Mia Boutique Hotel is such a peacefull place in Panama. Situated on the the Boca Brava island you are wellcomed by the allways smiling faces of Pedro and his colleague who will guide you directly to the bungalow you have booked. The hotel staffs attitude is fantastic. As is the French Saint Tropez originating hotel Manager. The bungalows... More

We traveled to Cala Mia while on a Backroads trip. After a 30 minute boat ride you are greeted by the friendly staff with a cool drink. The accommodations are all individual bungalows each having a view of the water, large bedroom, private bath with glass walled shower and a/c. We hiked around the property which is full of wild... We stayed 4 nights in November in this beautiful, peaceful place. It is not easy to find and if it is your first trip outside Panama City, Boca Chica will feel a bit like the ends of the earth. Persevere. It is definitely worth the (somewhat tricky) journey and once you are on the island, it is almost like being... More

What should have been an amazing, spectacular, gorgeous place was quite frankly in transition. The new French owners were in the midst of rennovating everything from the menu to the buildings, all the while entertaining their friends from St. Tropez. As paying guests, this was all extremely uncomfortable, not to mention expensive for the few services, level of food and... More
