We arrived just before 8pm after a 9 hour trip from Franz Josef to discover that the hotel is in a residential district of Nelson and that pretty much everything had closed down for the night. Despite knowing this our host was not armed with menus or definitive information as to where we could eat. Instead he simply pointed us... More

I stayed here on a recent trip traveling around NZ with my sister, I could not recommend this place enough. We had a Lovely twin room. Phil as so welcoming, he has a beautiful home and we felt at ease instantly. Phil helped us with booking our tour to Abel Tasman and we made use of the bikes to cycles... More

Our host is passionate about his home and grounds and making his guests feel welcome. We were the only guests, so he spent time chatting about the home's history, his family history and directing us to various points of interest.

The rooms were cozy and spacious, the house charming, the man of the house took care of our every need. Breakfast was some of the best we had in NZ. They even gave us a ride to the airport! It was a wonderful gem I would recommend to anyone! The daily tea/coffee was nice. I would return when visiting Nelson!... More

The ambience, food, comfort, hospitality far exceeded our expectations! The location was good too, and the advice we received from our host, Phil was very helpful in making our stay in the Nelson area great. Thank you, Phil, Belinda and Jake for making us feel so at home.

We highly recommend this lovely property. We left feeling as if we were leaving an old friend, we were made to feel so welcome. Phil's interest in history made our stay even more enjoyable. He's a good cook too!

Very comfortable, lovely accommodation. Lovely courtyard to enjoy a quiet time after a busy day or the sunroom for the cooler nights. Close to town for evening meals and convenient for the Able Tasman NT. We could certainly recommend it as a base for exploring the north west corner of the south Island.

We stayed at the Kershaw house for 3 nights in January. The entry is dark but the rooms were clean and comfortable. My biggest complaint was that it was in a suburban setting and there was not anything close by to walk to. The B&B is under new ownership and the owner is a very accomplished cook. Great breakfast.

Phil was very welcoming and obliging. The house is very English and the rooms are very comfortable.Breakfasts were very good and Phil always threw is a few surprises like whitebait fritters.A special feature were the home baked cookies provided every day. Phil had a number of overseas visitors and it was obvious he had a good knowledge of local places... More
